I’m Elizabeth Yeowart and What Lizzy Loves is my life, style, eyewear and optometry blog. Regular features include outfit and style posts, eyewear, beauty reviews, restaurant reviews and my trips and travels, (of which there aren’t that many but it’s something I plan on increasing!) On occasions, I write slightly more personal posts too. I have a 18 year-old daughter and a 16 year-old son, who keep me both busy and grounded, and a wonderful fiancé Ian, who takes the vast majority of my photographs. I’m a natural optimist and wear my heart on my sleeve and my blog is, I hope, an honest and true reflection of me, my style, my life, my thoughts and my feelings.
I was born in Preston in Lancashire but have lived here in Skipton, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, for more than a decade, spending time in the West Midlands and Oxfordshire in between. I love it here; so many beautiful places on our doorstep and, despite hailing from the “wrong side” of The Pennines, I have a wide circle of fabulous friends. I’m part of a large, incredibly close and very loving family and because of that, I have a strong grounding and what I believe to be a good sense of perspective.
I’m an optometrist by profession and graduated with a first-class Bachelor of Science degree in Optometry in 1996. It was in May 2013, while taking a career break to spend more time with my children, that I started writing my blog. This led to a copywriting and editing position at Aspire, a Skipton-based glossy lifestyle magazine on which I worked from January 2015 to July 2017. Furthermore, in November 2015, I was offered a position writing a column in the professional monthly journal, Optometry Today, a position I still hold today. In September 2018, I decided that the time was right to return to optometric practice and I subsequently found the job of my dreams right here on the doorstep.
My blog has grown steadily and organically since it began and is forever evolving to reflect the changes in my life, both professional and personal. What started off as a hobby has grown to become a significant part of my work and I absolutely love it. Through it, I’ve met countless inspirational people and have made some amazing friends. A continual work in progress, I strive constantly to improve the look, the content and the photography. Without question, it’s a labour of love and takes more time than I could have ever imagined, but it’s my space, my words and my passion and I can’t imagine my life without it.
Thank you very much for reading, Love Lizzy x
