I know already that this Me + Em Cropped Check Jacket is going to become an absolute wardrobe hero. It was, if I’m honest, an impulse buy. I had been looking on the website for something to wear for my 50th birthday in October. Ian and I are going to Sicily for nine days at the end of September/start of October, then flying back into London to spend my birthday weekend there. I wanted something to wear for afternoon tea on one the Saturday and dinner on the Sunday. I ended up buying a *green dress, a *green jumpsuit and this jacket. Subsequently, I realised there is a pair of trousers to go with the jacket. They were out of stock in my size, but with the utmost tenacity, I stalked them for what felt like two days straight and finally, a pair came back into stock in my size and they’re now en-route. It may be too much to wear as a suit; I shall see but I didn’t want to miss the opportunity. The dress is gorgeous and looks great with the jacket over and the jumpsuit is absolutely fabulous and will also work with the jacket. I’ll wear it with my green glitter Russell and Bromley platforms for parties and with trainers for a more casual look. More on those when I wear them.
Why I Love Me + Em
Me + Em is probably my current favourite clothing brand. Everything is beautifully made and it does, as per their strapline, benefit from Intelligent Design. The designers have thought about pocket placement, hemlines and detail. The fabrics are excellent quality and it shows. If I could, I’d buy something every month when the new collection drops.
I bought this pink dress in spring 2022 and it never lets me down. I always feel great in it. The heavy jersey hangs so well and the silhouette is very flattering. It’s our second wedding anniversary on Monday so Ian and I went to dinner at Owl, a fabulous restaurant in Leeds, (I’ll write about that in due course if I get chance). I decided to wear the Me + Em cropped check jacket over the dress- I mean, why wait? I’m all about reducing the cost per wear. As it happens, I’ll be wearing it later on today too because I’m having lunch in Leeds with Poppy. Always the sign of a good purchase, wearing something twice within three days of receiving it.
I love the puffed shoulder and the green and pink checks. I always prefer single breasted to double so for me, this is the perfect jacket to wear with everything from a party jumpsuit to a pair of jeans. Expect to see it on repeat.
