Traditionally, the Christmas period lasts until The Feast of The Epiphany on 6th January, the Twelfth Night. This means I could legitimately pull out all the Christmas outfit stops for a family meal yesterday, January 5th, because it’s still Christmas. Not that I need permission or an excuse to dress up of course…
My own foursome spent Christmas Day at my parents’ home. The elder of my two brothers was away in his family foursome, my youngest brother lives in NZ in his family foursome. The meal was therefore, a belated Christmas celebration for the Northern-Hemisphere branches of the family.
If only I’d got some photographs of my outfit!
The rest of my family picked me up straight from the hairdresser. We went straight to my parents’ house then straight out to dinner. I simply didn’t get the opportunity to get photos of my outfit. All I got was a photo at the hairdressers along with some family groups at the table. I’ll describe the outfit though, and when I wear it again, I’ll make sure I get some actual outfit photos.
Green Guipure Lace Self-Portrait Dress
I wore a new green guipure lace Self-Portrait dress with rose gold and pink accessories. I adore Self-Portrait’s signature guipure lace with nude lining.
It was another sales purchase, (I think it’s out of stock now) and one influenced yet again by the desire to wear my green glitter platform sandals.

Similar Dresses
My green guipure lace Self-Portrait dress appears to have sold out completely. These styles, from Self-Portrait are similar though and are all reduced in the sale.
Coast, another of my favourite occasion-wear brands, has some similar styles too.

New Year Reflections
I’ve enjoyed having the time, (and outfits) over Christmas to enable me to post a little more often. 2023 will see the tenth anniversary of my blog. When I started it, I had no idea that I would still post regularly a decade on. I still enjoy writing and sharing as much as I did in the early days. There is no doubt the blogosphere has changed. Over 40 style blogs went from being quite niche to reaching saturation point in a relatively short time. However, the increase in popularity of Instagram Reels, and more recently, TikTok, means that a lot of those original bloggers have stopped blogging to concentrate on making outfit videos rather than on the writing and still photography, the combination that I love and that led me to start this blog. I have dabbled in making outfit Reels but I much prefer still photographs. And so, for the forseeable future, I shall carry on as I have done writing my blog and sharing snippets of my life in photos on Instagram and Facebook.
