Anyone who watches Bake-Off or indeed anything else featuring Dame Prue Leith will have noticed her extensive wardrobe of bright, vibrant eyewear. I’m proud to say that MAC Eyewear (for whom I’m a company ambassador), collaborated with Dame Prue to create a brand new range of eyewear, Specs by Prue. CEO Mark Carpenter and Marketing Director Sara Walker said Dame Prue was hands-on and involved in every step of the design and marketing process, from looking at the first designs to approving the final imagery. She has a strong sense of style and always looks fabulous- it’s hard to believe she’s in her eighties.
Specs by Prue
The range is characterised by bold colours with strong, clean silhouettes. Each shape comes in a choice of colour ways to suit every preference. These my favourites from the collection- but I admit that I was spoiled for choice!
Specs by Prue 22002
This is a bold and unusual colour-combination in a universally-flattering silhouette.
Specs by Prue 22003
A frame with soft angles. Here, the flash of contrasting purple makes the red sing.
Specs by Prue 22007
The asymmetry of the colours makes this style stand out from the crowd. It manages to be both daring and eminently wearable. I can’t decide which colour way I like the best.

Specs by Prue 22012
I think this is my absolute favourite. I love the take on the cat-eye silhouette and the tortoiseshell and teal look beautiful together.
Specs by Prue 22015
This is such a fun frame which will draw all of the compliments. I wasn’t sure if it would suit, but I think it’s surprisingly wearable in a very flattering shape.
My Thoughts on Fit and Comfort
Every style I tried was supremely comfortable. This isn’t always the case with a more chunky acetate frame, so I was pleased. They are beautifully finished too- smooth. Again, some acetates can be a little rough or even sharp.
Although I’m an ambassador for MAC Eyewear, I can hand-on-heart say that is an excellent collection. I hope that I have shown how wearable they are too. Prue may be more than three decades older than me, but she sure knows how to rock a great pair of secs.
