Our fabulous Skipton friends gave Ian and I a voucher for Crab Manor Hotel as a wedding gift. 51 weeks after we got married, we finally booked an overnight stay, so starting our first wedding anniversary week off in style.
Crab Manor, (home to the Crab and Lobster restaurant), is a small and unique hotel comprising 20 different rooms and suites, each inspired by, and named after, a different hotel from around the globe. We stayed in Mount Nelson which features African artefacts, wood carvings, a draped bed and animal print wallpaper.
As one might expect, The Crab and Lobster has a menu that showcases seafood and fish. I had king scallops to start followed by fish pie, the latter was the best I have ever eaten. Ian had fish soup and pan roast halibut- again both excellent.

The staff throughout were all excellent and the grounds are beautiful. We would love to go back.

Anniversary outfit
I did of course wear a dress to dinner. (Ad #gift) In a very timely fashion, Gina Bacconi got in touch and asked if I would like to choose something from their collection. I was spoiled for choice because so many dresses caught my eye. Eventually I decided upon *Christiana, a chiffon maxi dress. It then took just as long to decide between the four delectable colours.
The chiffon drapes beautifully and the empire waistline makes for a very flattering silhouette. It has a side zip too. So many of my dresses have zips at the back , some of which I find nigh-on impossible to fasten myself. A side zip makes it so much easier; little things make all the difference.
I wore the dress with kitten heels but it will work equally well with flat or wedge sandals. It’s lightweight and doesn’t cease so it’s ideal to pack for holidays or special occasions. For information, I am 5’9 (175cm) tall and am wearing a UK size 12 The model in the images above is the same height and is wearing a UK 10. Thank you very much Gina Bacconi for my gorgeous dress.
