Think pink
You can’t fail to have noticed the plethora of pink popping up everywhere. The spring summer ’22 catwalks, (back in September), were awash with it and now, the colour in a multitude of shades, is everywhere from high street to high end. I’ve made two pink purchases lately: one, a carefully considered investment, the other, a lunch-hour impulse buy. The former is the delicious *Ponte fit and flare maxi dress from Me + Em that I mentioned in this post. (I’ll share a review of soon). The latter is this bright pink blazer.
Styling a bright pink blazer
I got the blazer from a charity shop in Skipton. The stunning colour drew me in. Consequently, I was delighted to see that it was my size AND that it was brand new. I love the boxy, slightly oversized shape and its contrasting white buttons. The colour is almost identical to the aforementioned pink Me + Em dress. Could/should I wear them together? Or would it be too much? (I have yet to decide). When I was paying, the charity volunteer told me that Marks & Spencer and Boden donated a huge amount of surplus stock, including this blazer, to charity during lockdown. Isn’t that good? This is a truly feel-good purchase. I’ve embraced the pink trend, I have a fabulous new wardrobe addition and I helped a charity.
Elevating basics
A bright blazer is one of those wardrobe pieces that will elevate the simplest of outfits, jeans and a white tee being a case in point. A pair of statement shoes does the same job. Ditto a pair of statement earrings. I went for the hat-trick in this outfit.
My sandals are by British brand Yull, for whom I have a soft spot. This is because they gifted a pair of yellow court shoes when my blog was in its infancy. I wore them so much, they wore out. These are Margate in the mimosa colourway.
They’re beautifully made, leather with a leather padded foot bed for additional comfort. They bring me so much joy that I display them in a prominent position in my dressing room (among my treasured Jimmy Choos, Kat Maconies and Cult Gaias). This is feelgood dressing.
Style notes
Bright pink blazer: M&S via charity shop.
Short sleeve pima cotton tee: Jigsaw.
*Beaded earrings: Boden.
Bag: Boden, previous season.
*Relaxed straight leg jeans in mid-vintage: Boden. (These fit true to size).
Shoes: Margate in mimosa by Yull shoes. Sold out on their website but *a few sizes left here. If anything they run slightly small so if you’re between sizes I’d suggest sizing up. Here is the Margate in two other colourways along with Scarborough which is similar.
