I’m not a beauty blogger, but when I find a hair or beauty product that works, and/or that I love, I tend to wax lyrical. So, without further ado, here is a selection of products that I have finished and will buy again
Best daily shampoo and best daily conditioner
I wash and blow dry my hair every morning and use straighteners about four times a week. Consequently, I go through a lot of shampoo and conditioner. Without doubt, the best daily shampoo I have ever used is *Charles Worthington Everyday Gentle Micellar Shampoo. It is lightweight, gentle and a little goes a long way. I’ve been using it for well over two years and I highly recommend it. If you was your hair frequently, then this is a brilliant shampoo. It is often on a three-for-two promotion at Boots which is when I stock up.
Unlike the best daily shampoo category in which there is only one contender, I alternate between three conditioners. All three are Charles Worthington products. I’ve just finished a tube of *Everyday Gentle Weightless Conditioner so I’ll focus on this one today. The other two I’ll write about once I’ve finished them. So the Charles Worthington Everyday Gentle Weightless Conditioner is exactly what it claims to be. It is effective in smoothing my hair but it doesn’t add weight or leave a residue. My hair is naturally wavy with a tendency to frizz so it can tangle. I comb the conditioner from half way down my hair through to the ends then rinse. I use this on my three work days when I have an early alarm and want to be as quick as possible in the shower because it rinses away very quickly.
Best body serum
I’ve been a fan of Ark beauty for a while and every single product I’ve tried is excellent. However, the Ark Skincare Conditioning Body Serum is among my favourites. This is the fourth bottle I’ve finished it has a light oily consistency which is easily and quickly absorbed. It leaves a slight sheen on the skin, (less so than a normal oil), so it looks very natural. It smells divine too- nothing strong- just a very pleasant light scent. This product is worth every penny. Each application feels like an indulgent treat and it is an absolute pleasure to use.
Favourite Retinol Eye Sleeping Mask
I bought this *Glow Recipe Avocado Melt Retinol Eye Sleeping Mask when I upped the ante on my beauty-regime ahead of our wedding last August. I love anything to do with avocados which is why this retinol eye mask caught my eye. It even looks like guacamole. I used it every other night and it lasted almost a full year. I don’t know whether it has made me look any younger around my eyes- probably not if I’m honest- but it has definitely made the under eye area feel smoother. It’s a nice product to use, (a lot of retinol products can’t be used around the eyes so it’s good to know this is specifically formulated for that area). (I ordered mine from Cult Beauty. There is 20% off most products at Cult Beauty atthe time of writing. Go go go!).

Favourite daily hand cream
My lovely friend Annemarie introduced me to Ecoya because one of her family members is the only UK stockist of this Aussie brand. I get very dry hands because I wash them over and over at work, at least ten times a day between every patient. A good hand cream is therefore, an essential part of my daily routine. I take a couple of minutes to rub it in when I get into bed. The Ecoya sweet pea and jasmine hand cream has the most divine fragrance which is especially nice at bedtime. It’s so good I use it on my heels and knees where my skin is particularly dry. I’ve used a few Ecoya products, all of which are excellent so do take a look for yourself.
Best lengthening mascara
I’m very discerning when it comes to mascara. Without question it’s my desert island cosmetic because it makes more difference than any other makeup. As well as that though, I, and you, see a lot of close-ups of my eyes and lashes because of all the eyewear I photograph. I’ve tried countless ones over the years and concluded that my all time favourite is the *Maybelline The Falsies. However, the team at Code Beautiful sent me their *CODE FFL Forget Fake Lashes and *CODE VLM Volumising Lengthening Mascara, to try. CODE FFL is a lash primer rich in nourishing and conditioning vitamins and waxes to nurture the lashes.
When I use these products together, I get the same volume as I do with the Maybelline- I can’t choose between them. BUT, the Code Beauty is significantly more lengthening, so much so, my lashes touch some of my spectacle lenses. The brush is excellent because narrow end makes it incredibly easy to get to all of the lashes, even those tricky ones in the inner corners. It doesn’t get overloaded either. So, in conclusion, this is my new favourite. I hope these photos speak for themselves.Code Beauty have very kindly given me a discount code to share with you. Get 15% off with code lizzy-loves.
