You might have seen a few of the photos from my hen party on Instagram. With the current restrictions in place, we didn’t know what we’d be able to do, so I was incredibly thankful that we managed to go ahead as planned.
Skipton Canal Cocktail Cruise
We had a three-hour Skipton Canal cocktail cruise. Poppy, my sister-in-law Sarah, and my mum worked tirelessly to make it a night to remember. Between them they decorated the boat with banners, flowers, balloons and photos of Ian and me.
My 71-year-old mum had devised a quiz about me and had “procured” prizes from Ann Summers, much to the delight/surprise of my younger work friends. We had the most delicious sharing platters, locally-baked cupcakes and a choice of appropriately-named cocktails.
It was one of the best nights of my life.

My hen party outfit.
So this is what I wore for my canal cocktail cruise.
All along, I wanted to wear a white outfit and to feel bride-like, but equally, I wanted it to feel like a party outfit. I decided that this short white lace dress is more party-like than the other three options: a white cotton poplin midi, a white broderie anglaise maxi dress and a white and blue embellished tiered dress.
My short white lace dress is from Chi Chi’s bridal section. I adore the scalloped neck and hemlines. It is beautifully made and has a finish which belies its price tag. To me, it is the perfect marriage of bridal and party wear. I felt a million dollars in it.
Glittery accessories. Of course.
A party outfit isn’t a party outfit without a sprinkling of glitter. I ordered my glitter bride clutch bag after seeing similar designs on @melissadoesglitter. I asked Melissa to modify one of her designs by using a different shade of pink glitter which she duly did and I absolutely love it. Totally fab-u-lous!
I think my champagne glitter Jimmy Choos epitomise party footwear. If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ll know that I’ve had them for ten years and that I had them “refurbished” two years ago. These are the best wardrobe investment I have ever made. I love them now as much as I did a decade ago. They’ve danced at a lot of parties and sparkled at countless special occasions. I treasure them.
