If you’re not familiar with Poppy Silk, it’s a small family business, based in a coastal village in Moray, North East Scotland. Their collections centre around vintage silk resort wear, designed in Scotland and hand crafted in India using traditional artisan methods. I’ve had a few pieces from Poppy Silk before so when founder Joanne asked if I’d like to try-on of some of the newest designs, I jumped at the chance.
Vintage silk dresses
These vintage silk dresses are one of a kind. They’re ethically made from carefully curated vintage recycled silk sari materials in small workshops in India, so each dress is completely unique. They are a relaxed loose shape, midi length which will fit UK size 8-14. For reference, I’m a UK size 12 and am 5 ft 9 (175cm). The dresses are unlined which makes them perfect for wearing over swimwear; I’ve got a nude slip on with these. I love the kimono sleeves and the contrast silk waistband.

Cupro dresses
These two dresses are made from 100% Cupro, a soft, eco-friendly, biodegradable fabric made from cotton waste. Cupro fabric is breathable, drapes elegantly, and feels like silk. I actually thought they silk, until I read the description on the website. Both of the following styles are available in sizes small, medium and large. I’m wearing the medium in both.
The Rosella dress has a white and black poppy print on a cobalt blue background with contrast bib and frill sleeves. It’s so pretty and elegant.

The Liana dress has an exclusive ombre botanical print. I love the drawstring waist with the tassels and gold beads.

Silk kaftans
Poppy Silk has a range of lovely kaftans, some of which are available in a choice of lengths. I’m wearing the blue pebble print silk kaftan in the midi length. The size options are small-medium (UK 8-14) and large-extra large, (16-18). I’m wearing the former.
Silk sari headbands
These beautiful silk headbands are made from offcuts from the dress production. They’re all ethically handmade in small workshops in India, like the vintage silk dresses. Therefore every piece is unique. They’re lovely- very well-made and comfortable too; they stay in place without feeling too tight.

The COVID situation in India
The Covid situation in India is absolutely terrible. Please take a few moments to read this graphic. Thank you.

Thank you for information on how to donate for Indian covid effected people. I had been looking for such a site but my local publications did not provide that.
You’re very welcome x
