I recently became aware of a tote-bag-shaped-hole in my wardrobe. I’ve got plenty of canvas shopper-type bags and also a few satchel-style bags. But I didn’t have a stylish neutral-coloured tote bag that I could, for example, take on a nice shopping trip or to take on the plane.
I can’t remember what I typed into the search engine, but the Cult Gaia Roksana in camel leather stood out among the myriad of other tan totes. Alas, it was out of stock on the Cult Gaia website and on every other UK stockist’s website. However, undeterred, I cast the net wider and found that Saks 5th Avenue had some and that it would be very straightforward to import one.
It was the angled silhouette and the circular dual handles that set this bag apart from the rest. The Roksana is elegant and roomy, but not cavernous. It’s neat, elegant and sophisticated and it is exquisitely made and finished.
It has a detachable crossbody strap which makes it more practical and it has a magnetic fastener, unlike a lot of totes which don’t have any kind of fastening.
I adore it. I debated putting it away for our honeymoon but decided that life is too short to save things. And as well as that, I’m mindful of Livia Firth’s #30wears campaign. Although I have no doubt that I will use this beautiful bag on a lot more than 30 occasions. It’s a bag for life.
