I loved the iconic Cult Gaia Ark bag since its inception a few years ago. The much-photographed insta-famous style has been the inspiration for many a high-street shop, and I myself have a dupe from Yumi, which you can see here. I would of course love the genuine designer version, but I see it very much as a beach bag. I felt I wouldn’t get enough use from it to justify the price tag and the consequent cost-per-wear.
The Cult Gaia Alba shoulder bag however, is a different story. It is THE ideal small handbag for spring and summer. It’s the sort that works as well with jeans as it does with a “going out out outfit”. Unsurprisingly, it was the hardware that caught my eye and what sets it apart from similar styles in the same price bracket.
The chunky matte gold detachable chain handle is fabulous and it makes a very pleasing sound, that I can’t think how to describe. More delicate than a clunking noise but more robust than a tinkling. The matte gold pebble-shaped toggle fastening is equally pleasing.
The bag has a vegan suede lining which feels super soft and looks very luxurious. I cannot wait to take this out with me when we are able to start socialising properly again. And you’ve probably guessed that it will be part of my honeymoon wardrobe.
