It’s been a while since I did a “Eye-catching Eyewear” post- not least because like most businesses, the eyewear and optical industry was impacted hugely by the Coronavirus pandemic. Things are picking up though and we’re moving forwards.
I’ve been writing a monthly column in Optometry Today called “Get The Look” for more than five years. Each month, we focus on a trend and select eyewear to suit. As a consequence of the pandemic, there will be six print copies this year instead of 12. The remaining six issues will be in digital format and within this, we are running a new series called “Trend Watch”. In each video I will try on, review and feature a piece of eyewear that has caught my eye.
The first frame in the series is the LM3287 by La Matta. These gorgeously elegant grey leopard cat eye frames are purrfect, (sorry), for an animal-print lover like me. The detail on the brow draws the beholder’s eye upwards so detracting from under-eye shadows and eye-baggage.
I think they’d work very well as a sun style but I’m going to get prescription varifocals put into mine because I have a lot of outfits they’ll go with, not least this, my beloved grey leopard-print wrap dress.

Notes
“La Matta eyewear have bold, intriguing hues; Animal prints and colors inspired by the wild with a tasteful pop of detail. Perfect for the larger than life personality. Original decorative elements add a special touch to each model to further enhance and express the personality and allure of this brilliantly modern woman.”
Thank you Mac and Pure Eyewear for supplying this frame.
I mentioned above that as part of my ongoing paid partnership with Optometry Today, I’m doing a series of videos called “Trend Watch.” You can see my two-minute video about this eyewear on the Optometry Today IGTV. I also made a 30-second Instagram Reel to accompany this article which you can view here.
