I fell in love with these burgundy patent mock-croc loafers as soon as I set eyes on them. I knew instantly that they’d go beautifully with a tweed coat that I got and wore a lot last year. Wearing a coat with “matching” shoes is an easy way to pull an outfit together; it adds cohesion and subtracts the thought needed to create a look.
The loafers are by Lotus, one of my go-to shoe brands. The chunky, non-slip sole is both contemporary and practical. Like all Lotus footwear, they’re supremely comfortable and needed no wearing in. I’m wearing them bare-legged here, but they’ll look good with tights or socks when we get into winter proper. They’ll also work with mini, midi or maxi-length dresses or skirts.

My navy silk blouse is from last winter. I’ve worn it over and over with various styles and cuts of jeans and with cropped patterned-velvet trousers. I always enjoy wearing it not least because it feels so good. A classic silk blouse is a wise investment and is another outfit-elevator. The jeans are my current favourite pair. The high-waist is flattering and comfortable and the straight, slightly-cropped leg is flattering but also a good choice to showcase statement shoes or ankle boots.

I’m balancing the chunky mock-croc loafers with chunky earrings; dainty jewellery and accessories would get lost. These fabulous faux-pearl baubles are enough to elevate even the simplest outfit into a statement look. I adore pearls in all of their guises and I know these will earn their keep. And despite the size, they’re not at all heavy.
And my cute blush faux fur bag contrasts beautifully with the texture of the burgundy-tweed coat and softens and lightens the look.
