I come from a family of Christmas-lovers. My mum and I both enjoy hosting, and between us, we’ve catered for everyone most years, either at my parents’ home or at mine. It’ll be a little bit different this year though, because my parents are going to visit my brother and his family in New Zealand for a few weeks. It was unthinkable that we wouldn’t see each other at Christmas, so, we brought it forward to last weekend. My parents did a traditional Christmas for my other brother and his family, and Ian, Harry and me. (Poppy was enjoying her last weekend of her first term at uni). And, can you believe they put their Christmas tree up just for the day.
Also unthinkable is wearing pyjamas all day Christmas Day. In fact it’s unthinkable on ANY day for that matter, although I do always enjoy changing into them in the evening. I absolutely can’t imagine not getting dressed up and wearing a Christmas Day Outfit. As luck would have it, we’re having three “Christmas Days,” this year, so naturally I have three Christmas Day Outfits. For this first Christmas Day, I wore this red heart print midi dress, a gift from London brand, Closet. The sleeves have split detail which adds interest. The dress skims over the body and has a flattering pleated neckline. And it’s lightweight, which is good because we’re a chatty (read noisy, slightly bonkers) family, and it got warm inside.

Now what can be more festive than a red velvet blazer? I bought this along with the matching trousers to wear for the Christmas season as well as for a few occasions I have in the diary in the new year. (The trousers are the same as these blue and green velvet ones that I wore a few weeks ago). I’m planning on wearing the full red velvet trouser suit with a sequin cami for our annual girls’ Christmas night in. But back to the blazer. It’s smart, vibrant and beautifully made. I’ll wear it again and again. (At the time of writing there’s 40% off. It also comes in black, navy and two fabulous print options).

I accessorised this Christmas day outfit with a pair of baubles in my ears and red ankle boots. And isn’t the clutch a good match? It is from last year and a different brand but the lips on the bag and the hearts on the dress look super together.

The red heart dress is a gift from Closet. They have a superb occasion wear collection, most of which is designed and made in London. The dresses below are currently available. Please click on each photo to see the full blog post.

You look lovely in that heart dress and the matching jacket goes so well together, what a divine quirky idea to match the small lipstick handbag.
