l fell for these trousers the moment I saw them. I’ve always loved velvet and I see it as synonymous with the sparkly season. However, these are just as easy to wear casually as they are for a party; think navy jumper and flat ankle boots. I always like a 7/8 length. It reveals the slimmest part of the ankle and leaves room for a statement shoe. (I’m 5 ft 9 tall by the way and I’m wearing a size 12 long. They come in regular and petite fits too). These Boden velvet trousers have a flattering flat front, are machine washable and have pockets. Need I say more?

I’m becoming ever more drawn to a pussy bow. This navy silky blouse epitomises easy-to-wear elegance. The gathered sleeves and buttoned cuffs add volume and style detail respectively. It comes in a plain green and a black floral too. I’d love to see it in an animal print or with glittery polka dots. I intend to wear this wardrobe staple for years.
This slim cropped cardigan is a neat extra layer. The cropped sleeves show off the blouse’s buttoned cuffs. It’s quite a fine yarn too so it doesn’t overpower the silk viscose blouse; it’s cosy yet elegant. I almost got it in a vibrant aqua colour, (there are nine colours to choose from), but decided that the delightfully-named midnight green would be more versatile.

However they’re styled, these Boden velvet trousers are chic. I wanted this particular look to be elegant and ladylike, so I accessorised with silver and black freshwater pearl earrings. They work beautifully with black, with dark green and with navy, because the pearl reflects any colour adjacent to it. I love pearls and I also have these earrings with a white pearl. They’d make an excellent and timeless gift.
The Perfect Pair
What is the perfect eyewear for this outfit? As luck would have it, I was staying at my friend Liz’s. She works for Stepper eyewear and had her samples there. (I write for the Stepper blog and have visited their head office in Stuttgart, so the company has a special place in my heart). She selected this beautiful green and blue stainless steel frame to style with this outfit. It couldn’t be better because colours match beautifully. It’s delicate and lightweight and in keeping with the ladylike look. (Style STS 40168 f069)

Thank you Boden for the outfit and for Hersey and Sons for the earrings. As always, all opinions and content are my own. And as always, thank you for reading and for supporting my blog.

I saw this outfit on Instagram and immediately loved it Liz. You’re right about velvet too, so lush and Bodens trousers are cut beautifully. I have a velvet pair from a couple of years ago that I’ll be pulling out of my closet now!
Thank you Michelle. I love velvet and always enjoy wearing it. The green is a bit different for me. I like it xxx
Oh wow these trousers – it’s like they didn’t need to be velvet at all as the print is so fabulous (very William Morris, no?), but then they DID make them in velvet and I’m dead. Like, DECEASED.
I wish you both a long and happy life together Liz, long may your patterned velvet trousers serve you and your wardrobe with their kindness and beauty.
=she melts into a pool on the floor=
They are SO William Morris yes. It’s quite a departure for me to wear bright(ish) green but I love it. The navy silk blouse is divine too. A “forever” addition to my wardrobe xxxx
What a beautiful look!! Your blouse is so pretty and I am in love with your pants!
