My Kind of Winter Blues

I don’t really get the winter blues, at least not before Christmas, but I do feel the cold. I love to wrap up in cosy layers. I’ve been thinking about getting a teddy coat for a while, so when Roman Originals got in touch and invited me to select a few pieces, I decided I would take the opportunity to try this light blue borg coat. (A quick online search told me that borg is a sheepskin-like material, similar to shearling. It’s short and thick with a super-soft bumpy surface).

It’s quite roomy which means it goes over a sweater easily and because it’s double breasted, it keeps the cold out. I like the length. It covers my bottom, but it isn’t cumbersome when I sit down. I’m really pleased I got it. It’s perfect for throwing on over jeans and a jumper to pop to the shops and equally perfect for walking through the park. It’s an easy-going coat.

I’ve bought a few winter essentials lately. This cream cable jumper is from Next as is the Barbour faux fur pompom hat. I’ve mentioned a few times previously that wool makes me itch, so I’m choosy with the composition of knitwear. This is a classic, timeless style that I intend to wear year after year.

I bought the jeans at the same time as the cable jumper and hat. They are “Lift, Slim and Shape” jeans. They’re flattering and very comfortable, and because they’re a straight fit, they go over the top of my boots (which were from Lotus last year). I’m wearing a size 12 long and I’d say they fit true to size. I’m 5 ft 9 (175cm) tall. I accessorised this cosy winter outfit with my tourmaline birthstone earrings. and my (now ubiquitous), blue leather hobo bag.
