One of my favourite sets of outfit photos is of a statement strapless satin high-low dress that I wore on holiday last year in Porto Santo. It was from Closet London, a brand known and loved for its elegant shapes and stunning prints. The dress I refer to epitomises these characteristics. Everything is designed and made in London too, so when Closet invited me to choose a few pieces of New Season occasionwear, I jumped at the chance.
The first of these is this stunning palm leaf print raglan dress. I absolutely adore the riot of colour. It’s a palette that’ll work throughout autumn as well as summer. Here I teamed it with summery accessories, leopard print espadrille wedges, a straw bag and green tassel earrings that always remind me of palm fronds. But it will look fabulous with black high-heeled ankle boots or shoes in any colour from within this vibrant tropical print. I have some orange ones that I intend to wear with it.
A velvet blazer would take this palm leaf dress to any autumn wedding- dark green or teal spring to mind. And a yellow or purple fascinator would complete a races look. So many options for so many occasions.
The cut of the dress is very flattering. The structure of the skirt means it flares out and holds its shape beautifully. And it has pockets. Even the back zip adds to the style detail.
It stills feels like a special occasion every time I go out with Ian and I know that’ll never change. I wore my palm print dress for cocktails followed by dinner at Papa Ganoush, an informal mezze restaurant in Whitley Bay which has a great menu and a fabulous tiled floor in the entrance.
I can’t wait to wear it again and to style it differently later in the year. In the meantime, do head over to Closet and have a look. There is an array of stunning occasionwear as well as workwear. And it’s not all dresses, there are just as many exciting separates.
