This sapphire blue dress is a true gem. The striking colour is perfect for the Mediterranean coast; it adds to the palette of beautiful blues afforded by the azure sky and inky sea. It is elegant and chic, yet easy to wear. The fabric is divine, a cotton and silk mix. It’s the sort of dress that swishes when you walk. I love the flattering waistline and the self-tie belt. It reminds me a little of the Issa dress that Kate Middleton wore on the official engagement photographs. So it was perfect for my reunion with King Alfonso XII. (See a photo at the end of this post of when I met him previously and click to read the blog posts I wrote after our encounters in 2016 and 2017 )
At the risk of becoming repetitive, my rainbow wedges were once again the shoe of choice by virtue of their comfort and “go with everythingness.”
This little bag by Louella Odié has been on holiday with me for several years now. The embroidered pomfret is fabulous and every time I see it in my dressing room, I get transported back to dreamy golden beaches and crystal clear seas.
It’s particularly special because Louella Odié was the very first brand I did a paid collaboration with, way back in my blog’s infancy. I cringe about how poorly I promoted this brand, not because I didn’t love and believe in it, but because I was incredibly naive and simply didn’t know how best to do it. So please ladies, help me to appease my guilt and visit the website. Louella Odié is owned by Karen and Lauren Mead, a fabulous mother and daughter who believed in me and who sent love and strength when I needed it most; they were sisterhood personified. There is a bag just like this with a crab design which I adore, along with lots of other beautiful, unique accessories that will bring you as much pleasure as my bag does to me.
The Perfect Pair
What is the perfect eyewear to go with this sapphire blue dress? I wanted something glamorous so chose my Aspinal Amalfi sunglasses. They’re bold, yet elegant and sophisticated, much like the dress. They’re also supremely comfortable and make me feel like a movie star. What more could one ask of a pair of sunglasses?
