There’s something rather magical about a rainbow isn’t there? Other than a sunset, I can’t think of many other things that stop people in their tracks to photograph and point out to others. In many cultures, the rainbow symbolises unity, especially that between earth and sky. The rainbow serves as a bridge between them. I remember as a young infant first hearing the story of Noah and his ark. God promised Noah and his sons that He would never again flood the earth and sent a rainbow as a sign of that promise. My five year-old self thought that was the most beautiful thing ever. Traditionally, a rainbow flag was a sign of peace. Today, it is better known as the symbol of LGBT pride, chosen to reflect diversity. So whether you appreciate it literally as the beautiful result of light refracting through water, or symbolically, a rainbow is universally accepted as a thing of beauty. To me, a rainbow epitomises optimism and positivity.
Rainbow Sleeve Sweater, Wideleg Jeans
Rainbows are on clothing everywhere right now and there’s a plethora of sweaters to choose from. And although many are very appealing, I can’t help think that my four year-old niece might wear something similar. This one is more subtle. More grown-up.
The zipper and the cuffs give it a retro sporty feel and it works well with my wide leg jeans and navy velvet trainers.
I’m really pleased with these navy spotted knee-highs too. It’s amazing how warm they are.
And my Toolally Half Moon earrings are the perfect finishing touch to this outfit.
Rainbow Sleeve Sweater, Skinny Jeans
I also wear it with skinny jeans and wellies for (watching) football and for walks through the woods.
It looks fab with an additional burst of colour. The scarf is the mohair one by Samuel Tweed. it comes in a whole host of delectable colours. It’s warm and cosy without being bulky. Not only that, it’s the same shade of pink as the detail on my wellies.
The wellies are the Arctic Ice by Muck Boots. (Meghan Markle wore a similar pair recently). They’re lined with neoprene and fleece and, unlike a lot of wellies, they are super-warm. They make such a difference to my overall warmth, especially when I’m standing still on the sidelines for up to two hours. This is my second pair from the Arctic range, the others being a lace-up style which are equally warm and stylish.
And Finally…
We went to see Bohemian Rhapsody at the cinema last night and it was absolutely amazing. The actors looked so incredibly like the members of Queen that it was hard to believe it wasn’t actually them. The music is of course majestic and everything about it was brilliant. I highly recommend it.
