I never shy away from the opportunity to dress up. And I never stop looking forward to Christmas. I was therefore, suitably delighted when JD Williams asked if I’d like to choose some partywear. In common with the whole range, the selection of partywear at JD Williams is extensive. Everything is curated with women like you and me in mind. That is, those of us who are no longer in our twenties, but have no less desire to look sassy and feel fabulous. True to form, I was enticed by sequins and glitter; the epitome of partywear. These stunning styles jumped out at me.
Chevron Sequin Dress
This monochrome sequin chevron dress, by virtue of its simple shift shape reminds me a little of the 196os. The sequins catch the light beautifully and I can’t help but shimmy, the moment it goes on.
The shape means its very easy to wear and it simply slips on with a single button at the back. It’s one of those frocks that you can throw on at the last minute because it needs little in the way of accessories. I just added some large silver earrings, a birthday gift from Poppy. Oh and a glass of violet gin.
The slightly flared sleeves are very flattering and add balance to the silhouette.
The sequin detail is stunning and the quality belies the £69 price tag. This is the ultimate party dress.
Little Black Sequinned Dress
More sequins, but this time they are of the little black variety. Like the one above, this dress is also a simple, easy to wear shift with flattering sleeves and a v-neck.
Again, I didn’t feel the need to add many accessories- just black tassel earrings. I think the absence of a necklace makes the whole look seem a little more casual. It also draws the eye to the fabulous studded ankle boots, more of which later.
This is a the perfect go-to dress for dinner, for cocktails and for parties. A timeless classic.
Teal Batwing Metallic Dress
This third dress is a little different form the previous two and as soon as I saw it, I thought that it’s the perfect Christmas Day dress. It’s a loose-ish fit with a drawstring waist so it’s easy to wear and will hide a multitude of Christmas pudding related sins.
But it was the teal glitter that caught my eye. (It comes in black too). It’s the most divine shade which shimmers and sparkles but in quite an understated way.
And I absolutely adore the extra-long sleeves. They are supremely comfortable and they make the arms look long and slinky.
Monochrome Faux Fur Jacket
As well as dresses and separates, the partywear at JD Williams includes a gorgeous selection of outerwear, footwear and accessories. I chose this faux fur jacket because it goes with all of these dresses and it will compliment numerous other things in my wardrobe too.
I’d describe it as a stylised snow-leopard print and I love it. It has popper fastenings and bracelet-length sleeves. The shorter length means it’s versatile enough to wear with skirts and trousers as well as with dresses of any style. It’s also the type of jacket that will look fabulous with jeans. I know already that I’ll wear it a lot.
Stud Detail Ankle Boots
As much as I love shoes, wearing them with a dress can sometimes look a little “safe.” A little predictable perhaps. A boot on the other hand adds a bit of personality and a touch of insouciance.
These stud detail ankle boots are super-comfortable, (important when standing at the bar and when dancing), and very flattering. And this is because of the cut. The front is cut to show off the narrowest part of the leg at the ankle. The heel is THE perfect height to make me feel elegant and dressed up, but not so high that it precludes the aforementioned dancing.
I love the back zipper detail.
And just I said about the faux fur jacket, I know I’ll wear these over and over, with jeans, with other dresses and with skirts. These boots are party heroes and I can’t believe they’re only £40.
Partywear at JD Williams
I think it’s obvious just how much I love each and every one of the items I chose. I’m incredibly impressed with the quality and flattering cut of all three dresses and I’m so happy to know that I’ll wear the jacket and boots frequently. I would like to thank JD Williams for these beautiful party pieces and for sponsoring this post. I’d also like to thank Poppy for being the duty photographer and for doing such an excellent job.
