Last week I wrote about some new additions to my bright holiday wardrobe. Here, in contrast, are some new pieces for my neutral holiday wardrobe. They are timeless and will look as current in a decade as they do today. They have beach holiday written all over them and they make for easy mixing and matching. I’m looking forward to sharing some pictures when I’m wearing them on a beach rather than in our office, (I took these myself with a tripod and remote control), but at least this gives a general idea of how things look.
Neutral Holiday Wardrobe: Black Dresses
I wear bolder, brighter things when I’m on a sunshine holiday than I do at home. Counter-intuitively perhaps, I wear more black too. There’s no rhyme or reason for it, other than to say that black suits me better when I’m lightly tanned than when I’m not. It’s unlikely I’d wear black in the evening, (on holiday), but during the day, black lacy, feminine, romantic dresses look fabulous in bright sunshine.
I had my eye on this stunning Iconique Cadiz sundress last year, but couldn’t get it in my size, (medium- I’m a UK size 10-12). I stalked it ever since on the UK Swimwear website. When the lovely people there offered me something for my holiday, it had just come back into stock. To say I’m absolutely delighted is an understatement.
The lace detail and the sleeves are exquisite and the fullness of the skirt makes me want to dance. This is a holiday dress for swooshing in over lunch.
The second black piece for my neutral holiday wardrobe is the Dione tunic by Fantasie. and I suppose it’s a simpler version of the one above, again with beautiful lace trims. It’s made from soft jersey and is neat and lightweight. It’s ideal to pop into a beach bag.
Neutral Holiday Wardrobe: Accessories
I love metallic shoes, not just for their aesthetic, but for their versatility too.
Lotus is one of my favourite shoe brands and I work with them regularly. These pewter and diamante wedge espadrilles are divine. All Lotus shoes are comfortable and these are no exception. Ideal for travelling, sightseeing, lunching and dining, these will get a lot of wear this summer.
These super cute starfish beaded gold leather sandals are from ethical brand Aspiga. I featured a few of their pieces in my holiday brights post and have a code for free shipping, LIZZYLOVES. They come in silver too and I’m in good company because Livia Firth has a pair.
And finally, how sweet is this mini circle straw bag from Next? It’s lightweight and is a good size for both day and evening. It’s plenty large enough to fit sunglasses, lipstick, purse and the usual essentials. I love it!
