Please forgive the tardiness of this Valentine’s outfit post. My camera was away for repair, so other than taking a few snaps with my phone, I didn’t take any pictures for quite a while! So almost three weeks after the fact, I recreated my Valentine’s date night outfit for the purpose of getting some photographs. (Those at the end of the post, taken at the restaurant, Le Caveau, were done so with my phone at the time).
I am, and always have been, incredibly and unashamedly romantic. I am therefore very lucky to love and be loved by a man who is equally so. A man who gives me flowers every time we see each other. A man who makes every day feel like Valentine’s Day. A man who is also a great cook. We stayed home on Valentine’s Day and Ian cooked. It was divine and as always, such a treat to be cooked for. We went out for dinner a few nights later instead and I wanted to wear something new. A Valentine’s day date dress, but one to carry me through the seasons afterwards.
The Perfect Valentine’s Day Date Dress
Red is possibly my favourite colour and of course, seemed wholly appropriate for the occasion. However, this Boden Jordanna dress is more than just a Valentine’s Day date dress. It’s for lunch with the girls too. And for travelling. It’s for barbecues and summer evenings. It’s for the beach, for picnics, for city breaks and for shopping. This is one of those failsafe, go-to dresses for all occasions. The midweight jersey and pull-on style mean it’s incredibly comfortable. It hangs beautifully and is the perfect midi length (I’m 5 ft 9, 175cm tall). And it comes in blue too.
A lot of shoes work with it: leopard print boots, black strappy flats and espadrilles or sandals later in the season. These red strappy flats are from last season. I’ve worn them several times including with fishnet socks and jeans over the festive period. They’re comfortable and despite being flat, they still make me feel dressed up.
The bright red lipstick that I wear so often is the universally flattering Dior Rouge 999. I’d class it as a true red. It’s long-lasting without being drying too. I love this shade. And I think the warm red looks best with gold toned jewellery, so I wore my favourite double stars ring
Our Valentine’s Date
We went to Le Caveau in Skipton, for our Valentine’s meal; one of our favourite restaurants. I went there for my birthday in October and also last summer during lobster season.
I even chose a co-ordinating dessert. Gin jelly with the finest raspberry sorbet I have ever tasted.
