One of the new trends for Spring Summer 2018 is bold colour and I for one am ready to embrace it. I think many of us need a little brightness in what can feel like a month of post-Christmas blues and grey skies. We’re lucky in our family. My dad and grandad share their birthdays in mid-January and Ian’s is two days before. It’s lovely because it means we have celebrations and get-togethers to look forward to. This is what I wore for the birthday celebrations at my parent’s home over the weekend.
Bold Colour: Floral Jumpsuit With Lace Detail
This floral culotte jumpsuit, gifted to me by Next, seemed the perfect way to add spring’s bold colour, while keeping warm and being weather-appropriate. I added sheer tights and my faux-fur cropped jacket. I got the jacket about five years ago at a Christmas Fair and I absolutely love wearing it. It compliments so many colours and styles.
I love the navy lace insert.
And the detail at the back is so pretty.
And it has pockets!
Bold Colour: Accessories
I accessorised with my fabulous orange Mulberry shoes, which I’ve had for around seven years now and the stunning peridot Swarovski crystal cocktail ring from Lisa, The Sequinist’s jewellery range.
This is exactly the type of outfit I love. Feminine and romantic with a nod to the new season. Not only that, it’s versatile too. This bold colour floral jumpsuit will look equally good with a more casual styling, a denim jacket and trainers or canvas pumps perhaps. And it’ll be perfect with espadrilles or flip flops in warmer weather. I’ve gone from not having any jumpsuits four months ago, to now having three. I wore a summery, sleeveless, cropped-leg jumpsuit with espadrilles when I was in Lanzarote and a full-length jumpsuit with flat strappy shoes when I was in Malaga. I think this trend has become a fashion staple now. Jumpsuits make a lovely alternative to a dress,
Thank you to Next for gifting this jumpsuit; as always, all opinions are totally honest and all content is my own. And thank you to Ian for taking the photographs.

I’ve definitely been feeling the post-Christmas blues but glad to hear you’ve got your dad and granddad’s birthdays to look forward to 🙂 I agree jumpsuits do make a great alternative to dresses, I always find my culotte jumpsuits a quick go-to when deciding what to wear as like you say can be dressed up or down 🙂 I haven’t really dressed any up that much but I’m feeling very inspired from how you’ve styled yours! You look absolutely stunning and this is such a gorgeous look! That jumpsuit suits you so much!

Oh thank you Kate. I’m new to jumpsuits but am a convert now and it’s nice to ring the changes isn’t it? Thank you for the lovely compliments and yes, it is so lovely having bithdays so we have an excuse to celebrate some more! xxxx
Why do I not own any culottes? Looking at this beautiful outfit I’m inspired to scope them out! I think it’s the length that has put me off in the past, a bit in between if you know what I mean Liz? Yours finish at the most flattering length for me & the mixed materials give the outfit that extra special detail. Lovely as always my friend xx
I know exactly what you mean about the length. It can very easily be an inch or so too short which then doesn’t work. Yes, the mixed materials add so much to the design don’t they and thank you for your lovely words xxxx
Wow, wow and WOW, LIz!!!! Having just styled a similar-ish floral jumpsuit myself I absolutely adore this… all the details with the lace and the back and the pockets are so lovely, and pairing it with the cropped fur is genius. This would be beautiful at a winter wedding!! You look as radiant as always 🙂
