I love Christmas. My romantic personality and my occasional tendency to the whimsical draw me to twinkling fairy lights like a moth to a flame. The Malaga Christmas lights that grace Larios Street are the most spectacular I’ve ever seen. The design is based upon Malaga Cathedral, complete with domes and stained glass windows; we’d already visited the real thing. How fortunate that they had been switched on just a day before we arrived.
The town centre comes alive as soon as darkness descends with street entertainers, brass bands, human statues amid the most vibrant of atmospheres.
We strolled up and down taking it in, shaking our heads in disbelief that not only were we there, in Malaga, at Christmastime. But that we were there together.
My ruffled, embroidered maxi dress is from Topshop. I fell in love with as soon as I saw it and got it when the Black Friday discounts were running. It has sold out in burgundy colour but is available in black.
Everything about it appealed to me. The feminine ruffles, the maxi length, the fluted sleeves, the slightly risque sheer panel at the front. The sheer sleeves conceal yet reveal and I felt like a princess within my own fairy-tale.
We went for dinner, all the while pausing to marvel at the beauty of it all.
And then we returned to the rooftop terrace of our hotel to survey the city from above.
And to relax, reflect and dream some more.

Thank you so much! Yes, I love the dress but I love the town more! It’s the prettiest place with a lovely vibrant, yet laid-back atmosphere xxx
Sorry in advance for the bad language but the first words that came into head were JESUS CHRIST WOMAN WHAT DO YOU LOOK LIKE {in the POSITIVE meaning of the word, of course] – because you look an absolute vision, Liz!!!! In fact no, that doesn’t even come close to how beautiful you look. I’m speechless… that first picture is To. Die. For.
If you were a member of the royal fam that dress would be sold out in seconds… I’m in shock at how gorgeous it is. You out dazzled those Christmas lights by a million squillion watts 😉
(So glad you had an amazing weekend btw, you deserved it!!)
C xx
Awwww, thank you Catherine. That means so much. It helps, (as you know), having someone there whi is so willing and patient when taking photographs! It was a perfect weekend. Much needed and one that’ll stay in my memory forever xxxxxxx
Oh my goodness that dress looks stunning on you, no wonder you felt like a Princess x
Thank you Kareema. Yes, I think it’s the length and the ruffles. I was swishing and swooshing around! I must say too that Ian treated me like a princess- something I have never experienced before xxxxx
What a beautiful dress! The color is fantastic! And those lights are amazing! I havn t been to Spain for a long time and seeing your photos make me want to go there!
Thank you Nancy. Yes, I like the colour too. I don’t have many things in that colour, so it was nice to try something a little different. Spain is so beautiful isn’t it. So many interesting places and beautiful towns xxxx
Wow, this dress was made for YOU, Liz. It is perfect in every way. Every detail is glorious, but my favourite is the tasteful and gorgeous sheer panel on the front. Oh, and the sleeves! I think you need it in black as well 😀
I can’t even believe those Christmas lights; what a treat for the eyes! They are so beautiful; I can’t imagine how much planning (and cost!) goes into those. I’ve decided you and Ian need to go to Vienna one day for the Christmas lights. It isn’t warm, but they are seriously impressive.
Beautiful post, darling. Thank you for sharing your weekend with us! xx
Thank you Lisa. If I had a suitable occasion, I’d be very tempted to get it in the black too! Yes, it was as though all detail gods collided abd out my favourite things together in one dress! It’s a little unusual too which I like. Thank you for the lovely compliments sweetest, (as always xxxx
Wow, the dress is really wonderful! I love the color, the bold design, the originality, the embroidery, the wonderful design of the sleeves and the skirt. And you … appear so beautiful!
You’re so kind Josep-Maria, thank you. Yes, the dress is wonderful. I can’t wait to wear it again xxx
WOW! I don’t think I’ve ever seen such glorious Christmas lights, Lizzy! I’m like you when it comes to lights like these…. a moth to a flame, for sure. And that dress, well…. what can I say? Other than it’s utter; beautiful. Just like you! MHAW <3
