Autumn-Winter and the festive season is not only my favourite time of the year socially, it’s my favourite time sartorially too. Textures, embellishments, sparkle and shine serve to make clothing and accessories all the more exciting and enticing. I don’t follow trends slavishly and I describe this a style blog rather than a fashion blog. But I do enjoy adding a few key pieces to my wardrobe each season. Below are my winter favourites. Some I have already purchased and not yet worn. Others I have already shared here on my blog. The rest are those clothes and accessories that have caught my eye for a variety of reasons. I have included some Black Friday offers too, which are correct at the time of writing.
She Wore Green Velvet
This season there is a prevalence of green velvet in shades from teal to forest. I have got the teal velvet swing dress and you can see it in action here in my previous blog post. I think each of the shoes is exquisite; these emerald slippers give Dorothy’s ruby numbers a run for their money.

Primrose Flats, Hobbs £139. Black Friday: Use code OHMYGOD20 for 20% off (now £111.20).

Amabel Faye in emerald velvet, Clarks £69. Black Friday: Use code BLACK20 for 20% off (now £55.20)
Paint The Town Red
I have always loved wearing red. I find it incredibly uplifting and vibrant. You might recall that I wore the red blouse with black pom pom jeans a few weeks ago. from the selection below, I also have the velvet pleated skirt and the strappy flats, so I can recommend both wholeheartedly. The flat shoes are unbelievably comfortable and have Marks and Spencer’s renowned Insolia lining. I love them so much that I bought them in black too. expect to see them a lot over the next few months.
Red ruffle round neck blouse, (also available in cream) Marks and Spencer £29.50
Red block heel sparkle sandals (also available in black) Marks and Spencer £29.50
Red velvet pleated midi skirt (also available in black, navy and gold) marks and Spencer £39.50
Red suede strap flats (also available in black), Marks and Spencer £39.50
Red suede kitten heel ankle boots, (also available in black), Marks and Spencer £69
Winter Blues
Navy has always been one of my favourite colours. In many ways, I find that it is more versatile than black. I adore both of the delicate, feminine dresses below. A tulle skirt can be surprisingly versatile. I wore my grey tulle skirt with a sequin top and sparkly shoes for a party look. To dress it down, I wore my tulle skirt with a breton and pumps.
Navy floral embroidered mesh dress, Topshop £45, Black Friday offer now on £36
Navy Velvay lace mix midi dress, Topshop £46, Black Friday offer now on, £29
Navy tulle midi skirt, Topshop £45, Black friday offer now on, £25.60
Make A Statement
Slogan jumpers have been popular for several seasons. Not only do they make a statement, they make an great alternative to a Christmas jumper too. I have just got the POW one amd the multi-colured stone one.
Jewelled jumper, £59, Topshop
Baby It’s Cold Outside
By now you’ll know that I spend hours and hours every week taking my son to football. He plays matches on both Saturdays and Sundays and baby, it’s cold out there when I’m standing watching. I’ve spent considerable time researching the best options and without question, a long down coat will be best possible outer layer. I didn’t want black and I wanted it to look good, this is in the lead so far. After all, style and practicality should not be mutually excelusive. I wear wellies most of the time but even with thick socks, my feet get cold, so I have been looking for a warmer alternativeI didn’t need to look for long. Muck Boots are my go-to for wellies, (you may remember I went on a press trip to River Cottage with them back in September). This pair of Artic Apres lace-up boots with fleece lining is on its way.
Sherpa Khumbila parka, £260, Sherpa
Arctic Apres lace-up tall boots, £165, Muck Boots. Black Friday: Reductions across the Muck Boots website
Dazzle With Tassels
I know I’m late to the tassel earring party, but I’m certainly making up for it. All of these are from Next with whom I’ve been very impressed for the last few seasons. This selectionstarts from £8, so they;re great stocking fillers or Secret Santa gifts. I have got both the turquoise pair, which I wore with a jumpsuit when I was in Lanzarote and the same pair in black. I wore those with an enbroidered top. I can confirm that they are very comfortable and don’t feel at all heavy.
Tassel earrings from £8, Next
Dainty And Delicate
In complete contrast to the statement tassels above, I also love pretty and delicate jewellery in warm and rose tones. These pieces are all by Ted Baker jewellery and are all currently reduced.
Sully pink crystal daisy stud earring, usually £45, Ted Baker. Black Friday 25% off, now £33.75
Sappelle crystal daisy ultra-fine crystal cuff, (also available in yellow-gold and white-gold tones) usually £39, Ted Baker. Black Friday 25% off, now £29.95
Other Black Friday Reductions
There are reductions of up to 40% at House of Fraser , and 30% off plus free delivery and returns at Boden. As always, John Lewis will be price-matching everything . There are some brilliant reductions at Denby too, in case you’re needing to get some extra crockery ahead of Christmas. I love my white Denby dinner plates and I’m looking forward to mixing them with some brigher pieces for a festive table setting. White is so easy to co-ordinate. There is 20% off almost everything at The White Company which is where I’m heading to now to get my annual Winter candle- my absolute favourite!
Anyway, happy shopping and I hope you like my favourite things as much as I do!

It’s been a popular little skirt hasn’t it. I haven’t actually worn mine yet. I’m going out for a festive afternoon tea with my mum next week, so I think it can make its debut then!!! xxx
