As you know, Ian and I went to Lanzarote last week with our families. We stayed in a villa in Playa Blanca and it was wonderful from start to finish. I didn’t actually take many photographs, something which is most unusual for me. I enjoyed the moments so much that time got the better of me on a lot of occasions, but I have included a few.
Floral Jumpsuit With Yellow Espadrilles
Although I wore something different every day and every evening, many of my outfits were the same as those I wore during my summer holiday in Nerja, but this floral jumpsuit was a new holiday wardrobe addition. It’s from Next and it was the print that caught my eye. It is a lightweight, non-crease material and it simply pulls on, so it’s ideal for hot weather and also for travelling. I wore it for the flight home with a denim jacket and trainers and it was incredibly comfortable.
My yellow suede espadrilles were from Kaleidoscope earlier this year and at the time of writing are still available.
And how fabulous are these *turquoise tassel earrings also from Next? I absolutely love them and think they compliment the colours in the floral jumpsuit perfectly. They’re available in dark red and in black too. I’m very tempted to get both pairs to wear throughout the festive season.
Ian took these photographs just outside of our villa before we went out for dinner. This is our pool and the outdoor terrace. You can see that we had a gorgeous view.
And there were some beautiful sunsets.
We went to the beach on two occasions, where we snorkelled, played in the sea and went on a banana boat.
Marina Rubicon was close by too and we had a wander around. You can see the volcanic mountains in the background.
One-Piece Swimsuits
We went to Aqua Lava waterpark twice too and it was fabulous. The last time I went to a waterpark was on a school trip to Germany almost 30 years ago so I didn’t know what to expect. It was such good fun. Ian has been to more. He said that this one is relatively small which meant fewer people and therefore shorter queues. There are water slides, a lazy river and a wave pool along with a café. I highly recommend this as a place to visit, especially if you have teenagers in tow!
My beachwear of choice is always a bikini, but I always take a one-piece swimsuit for such activities and I’m very glad I did. UK Swimwear kindly sent one to Poppy and me. Mine is the *Gottex Pavone round neck swimsuit and Poppy’s is the Anita Rose Faia Elousie swimsuit. This is ideal for those with a larger cup size but who want a young, fashionable, non-mumsy style. I think you’ll agree that Poppy looks absolutely amazing.
It was the first time our families had met and I can’t deny that I was apprehensive before we went. It was a big step for everyone involved. I needn’t have worried though. Everyone got on so well. We played cards, darts, table-tennis. Ian and I cooked together, we all ate together and some had a few crazy cocktails. We swam, sunbathed, chatted and “acquired” a pet cat named Bert and a pet lizard named Gerald.
This is a holiday that none of us will forget. Lanzarote was life-changing.
