I don’t think I have ever worn an item of clothing that has made a bigger statement than this fabulous print asymmetric high-low jacquard skirt. It was the most impulsive of impulse buys and I absolutely love it. Despite being a style blogger and having so many clothes that I recently added more rails to my dressing room, (by dressing room, I mean a tiny but incredibly hardworking spare bedroom in which I’ve maximised every centimetre of space with storage), it’s actually very rare that I go shopping. This skirt aside, I honestly can’t remember when I last went into a fitting room. I buy most of my clothes online and receive the rest from those brands I work with. On this particular occasion, I was in London with Michelle, The Barefaced Chic, for a round of Autumn Winter Press Shows. We found ourselves in the Oxford Street branch of Coast and this skirt was there staring me in the face. Love at first sight, I was utterly smitten. I tried it on, it fitted beautifully, Michelle loved it too, so I bought it.
A show-stopping skirt needs only a very simple top, one that is neat and that tucks in. This high necked top with scalloped sleeves, a detail I love, ticks every box.
The skirt is like an origami structure. The exquisite folding gives it oodles of volume which is further emphasised by the asymmetric high-low length. It feels heavy when on the hanger, but not when being worn. It moves, swishes in fact, with the body and falls perfectly and beautifully. It’s a skirt for twirling, for swooshing and for partying-I wore it to my close friend’s 50th birthday party. It’s a skirt for enjoying, for having fun in and it makes me smile just looking at it. To me, it’s a work of art and I adore it.
A skirt this fabulous needs a jewel of equal magnitude. How perfect then, this large Swarovski crystal cocktail ring from my friend Lisa, The Sequinist’s shop.
And because it’s a skirt for celebrations, my champagne glitter Jimmy Choos, seven or eight years old and still my all time favourite pair of shoes, add a touch of sparkle.
Love Lizzy x

Thank you my lovely! I loved our trying on session and I really hope to be swooshing and swirling again in it very soon. Do you think the twinkle in my eye had anything to do with the fizz we managed to consume in Covent Garden? xxx
