It’s really quite rare to be able to wear a “holiday dress” such as this one here in the UK; those dresses that are perfectly suited to hot foreign climes but look slightly out of place here unless it’s scorching. The UK had glorious weather at the weekend and it was especially welcome because it was Father’s Day too which meant time spent in the garden with my parents and children before we went out for lunch.
This white lace-trimmed midi-dress is one I bought when on holiday in Nerja last summer. I’m returning to the same place in a little over a month and I’m looking forward to perusing the quaint shops and perhaps buying something similar to wear when I’m there.
I was feeling in holiday mode, a fact reflected by my hair. I dried it but it really was too hot to use my straighteners so while it’s a little flyaway, it’s a lot in keeping with the happy carefree mood the sunny weekend evoked in me.
Isn’t the cow parsley beautiful? I used to live in a more rural area and in my garden was an abundance of it. I used to pick armfuls of it and display it in jugs- its unassuming cloudy simplicity so easy on the eye.
My bag is by a mother-daughter brand called Louella Odie, one of the first brands I worked with as a very new, and rather naiive blogger. We kept in touch via social media and they recently sent me this gorgeously quirky slouchy pouch which I adore and will also take with me on holiday. It fits my ipad mini and my camera as well as the usual purse, lipstick, hairbrush so it’s a very practical and useful size. The pomfret was originally drawn by mother of the duo, Karen.
The wrap bracelets I sell in my own online boutique are ideal for wearing in warmer weather because they’re lightweight, comfortable and don’t get hot in the way metal does. The sun really makes the diamantes sparkle and it’s the ideal bracelet to work from beach to bar. In fact, I don’t think I’ll need more than this for my upcoming holiday because the leopard works as a neutral and goes with everything I’ll take to wear.
The pineapple ring is also from my boutique Lizzy O and is available in silver too. To me it epitomises the light-heartedness of summer and after all pineapples are a lesson to us all: stand tall, be sweet on the inside and wear a crown! Pineapple necklaces, bracelets and bangles are also available
I’m becoming rather addicted to espadrilles this season, I think. They’re a versatile shoe and really do work with most things from dresses to shorts and with both mini and midi skirts. I’m on the look out for some bright red wedge ones and am sure I’ll be successful in Spain next month.
I’d like to leave you with a picture of my dad taken at his Father’s day lunch. He is wonderful in every way and I’m very fortunate that he and my mum are very fit and able. He supports us in so many ways, but his biggest gift to me is that he loves my children as much as I do; he plugs the gaps when I sometimes find I can’t quite manage to be both parents to my children. We adore him and we can’t wait to go on holiday with them next month.
Love Lizzy x

Wonderful dress, I love the fabric, the filigree and the subtlety. Beautiful proposal, with romantic or mediterranean air, beautiful. The Mediterranean also appears in the bag and the summer in the fruits of your fingers and in the espadrilles of your feet. You look really wonderful with this look.
