Isn’t it lovely being able to go out without a coat? After months of heavy jackets plus hats, gloves and scarves, there’s a sense of freedom when they can be packed away and the spring summer wardrobe can be embraced. However, it’s often still cool, which is when clever layering needs to come into play. Light, (and indeed bright), cotton knits are perfect for early spring and its changeable weather. They can be layered over a shirt, tee or a vest and worn any type of jeans. They give enough warmth and don’t leave one shivering, should the weak sunshine decide to retreat, which is, realistically, a very likely occurrence. I’m always delighted to find a knit of any description that doesn’t contain wool, (because it makes me itch), so this beautiful blue cable knit cotton jumper is perfect. It comes in baby pink too, which is equally lovely.
The jumper is from Tulchan, a brand I have written about previously, based on the Lancashire and Yorkshire border, just a few miles from the beautiful market town of Kirkby Lonsdale, whose architecture this scarf depicts. I’ve been there so often and recognise the buildings, so it’s really rather lovely to have them on a scarf. I have a few gorgeous pieces actually from the latest collection and because Tulchan uses a small and cohesive colour palette, everything mixes and matches very easily. It’s a very good way of building a capsule wardrobe for say a weekend away or a holiday and is something I might put together for a future blog post.
The crystal wrap bracelets are from my online accessories boutique, Lizzy O and are just £12.50. I have got them in an array of colours and they look fabulous both singularly and in combination. Sign up to my blog’s monthly newsletter here for exclusive subscriber discounts at Lizzy O.
I love the v-neck and think it looks equally good both with and without a scarf. I think a statement necklace would look stunning with it too.
I wore it on Mother’s Day when my children and I went for a walk along the canal and into Skipton for brunch and it was just the perfect outfit for such a relaxed, smart casual occasion.

That colour is gorgeous on you, plus I love the cable detail, and sweetly sexy v-neckline! This is one of my favourite colours. I love the scarf too; architectural details have always inspired me. Your bracelets are the perfect touch of sparkle with this.
I'm hungry now that I've read this and seen that egg and lentils photo, hahaha!
A weekend capsule wardrobe post is a good idea! xx
Thank you Lisa. Yes, I love you in the coat that's almost this colour, (the one you wore on the O40co shoot). I remember you mentioning this scarf when I put it on my blog after seeing a preview of it. Thank you- I will put some thought into doing a capsule wardrobe xxx

This look is very stylish, but casual too, such a pretty colour blue. Nice background too – takes me back to my boating holiday. x Jacqui

Thank you Jacqui. I'm very lucky living just a atone's throw from the canal. It makes for a beautiful backdrop when the sun's shining! xxx
