My boyfriend Ian and I spent last weekend up in the North-East and as well as making the most of fabulous city centre which is Newcastle, we spent several hours strolling along the beautiful beaches there. I have always loved being on the coast and the sea draws me no matter where I am. It’s a complete contrast to the equally beautiful hills and dry stone walls of The Yorkshire Dales, where I live and I relish the change of scenery.
This jersey shirt dress is in the loveliest shade of greyish-blueish-teal, a colour named Eclipse which is a far more romantic description of the hue than the one just afforded by me.
Subtle details add to the style, including this button which enables the sleeves to be rolled up and the self-coloured pattern on the pocket and shoulders.
The silver honey bee bracelet and silver pineapple bracelet are from my own online boutique, Lizzy O and are both available in gold with matching items. Do sign up to my monthly newsletter here for exclusive discounts.
It’s a very flattering dress, made even more so by a small elasticated panel at the back which serves to emphasize the waist.
I added print and texture with my snow leopard flat ankle boots which almost camoflauged into the pebbles. I love the fact that the Eclipse tights match the dress perfectly too.
Speaking of shoes…aren’t Ian’s tan leather brogues lovely? I couldn’t resist photographing them against the pebbles. They’re from Lotus shoes, a brand I love and which has an excellent selection of shoes for men as well as women.
My dress is from Mistral, a British lifestyle brand that’s relatively new to me. A family business, the head office is based in Wiltshire and its nineteen bricks and mortar stores are spread throughout the South of England, which is perhaps why it slipped under my smart-casual radar, living as I do in The North. The collections feature prints and plains in a cohesive colour palette which can be readily mixed and matched.
This is the type of dress that can be thrown on without needing a moment’s more thought. Casual enough for everyday wear but with more than enough about it to earn an invite to lunch in a coastal pub, which is exactly where we ended up after taking these photographs. The Staith House on the Fish Quay in North Shields was the perfect place to warm up, have a glass of fizz and share some seafood.
Do go and take a look at the Mistral New Season Collection. It’s full of beautiful florals, prints and stripes with a whole host of equally desirable accessories which make the art of mixing and matching an easy one.
Love Lizzy x

What a lovely post, Liz! I can really feel the rough landscape and the breeze from the sea which is also such a different landscape to the Bavarian mountains where I live.
I'd love to have a drink with you in that pretty restaurant, looks so inviting!
You wear this dress so well and it highlights your amazing figure. It looks gorgeous with your leopard booties and I am sure you can wear it a lot in spring too.

I love a good all-rounder dress like that… good for school runs, weekends, and as you show here, strolls on the beach! It has a much nicer shape than most of my all-rounder dresses. Thanks for the heads up on Mistral; that brand is new to me as well. I'm off to explore the website.
It is SO lovely seeing you so happy and glowy in your photos 🙂 xxxx
Thank you so much Lisa. It is a very good shape because a lot of similar dresses can be a little too unstructured.
