I have always, always loved leopard print and treat it very much as a neutral. This jacket is one of my favourites from last year and I have worn it over and over. A statement jacket whether it be an animal print, a check, a floral, a brocade or a stripe can elevate even the simplest of outfits and make it look interesting. Here, I have a simple black long-sleeved top on with a pair of dark skinny jeans and black Chelsea boots. It would be way too plain on it’s own, but the jacket adds everything. However, as much as I have no qualms whatsoever about wearing and re-wearing the same outfit- even sharing it several times on my blog, because after all, that’s what I do in “real-life”, I do like to ring the changes with new accessories.
I wore this outfit yesterday for a day in Kendal, (South Lake District). I’m working with Kendal Tourist Information on a small project which will appear on their website and also here on my blog by the end of February. I needed my camera as well as a notebook and business cards which meant I wanted a bag to accommodate the above, (along with my phone, make-up bag and brush of course), and which could be worn across the body to ensure I had two free hands to take photographs and write notes.
This grey Italian suede crossbody saddle bag fits the bill perfectly. It’s from Marks and Spencer’s latest collection and is a little beauty. Simple and understated, it’s beautifully made and has a internal zipped pocket as well as two further pockets which are large enough to accommodate a large smartphone.
You all know how much I love jewellery and this large dragonfly brooch is a new addition to my own online accessories boutique, Lizzy O. (There is also a large silver butterfly plus, in complete contrast to the simplicity of this design, a “more is more” multi-coloured gemstone version of both dragonfly and butterfly.
The diamante leather-look bracelets are also new additions. I love stacking them and choose complimentary neutrals (taupe, black and champagne). Also in the neutral pallette is a warm white plus a grey and then if a little colour is in order, there is a dark pink, a light pink, a mint green and a light turqouise option. They have a sparkly magnetic fastening and are very lightweight and comfortable to wear and are suitable for both work and play, daytime and evening.
It was a my first visit to Kendal and I was truly amazed at what a fabulous little town it is and I’m very much looking forward to sharing more about it.
And if you follow me on Instagram, you may have already seen this image. My 13 year-old son was with me yesterday. Imagine his shame when I took this mirror selfie. In a shop. In public…
