Stars and Stripes. What better combination to wear as our American friends celebrate Independence Day this weekend ahead of tomorrow. I read several blogs written by American women and always enjoy seeing their patriotic outfits. But actually, stars and stripes are two of my favourite design features and I wear both all year round.
This maxi dress is one I stalked online since the Boden summer sale started last week. I had wanted it earlier in the season actually, but couldn’t justify it because of it’s (almost) £100 price tag. It was only reduced by 20%, but I remembered some vouchers, so it made it a reasonable purchase in the end. It was out of stock in my size so I checked several times a day until one came back into stock. I’ve done this time and time again and it really is worth doing if there’s something you’ve set your heart on. The reviews about this dress were very helpful regarding the length. At 5 ft 9 inches tall, I always choose the long length if there is the option. On this occasion, the dress was only available in a regular which I doubted would be long enough. However, a lot of reviews mentioned that it came up long and this is indeed the case, You’ll see from the photographs that the regular length is perfect for me and for sizing information, I’m wearing a UK 10, my usual size in Boden.
This beautiful red lotus scarf is another of the new additions to my online boutique, Lizzy O. It can double up as a sarong, so proving its worth as a multi-tasking wardrobe addition.
So there are the stripes. Here are the stars.
The Danon jewellery I sell on my website Lizzy O, has proved popular but it’s the stars that have been the favourite. So much so, I have expanded the range to include more earrings and a necklace. The earrings I’m wearing have removable stars, so leaving just the Swarovski crystal studs, making them a very versatile option. The stars can be worn at the front or at the back of the earlobe too. (You know by now that I like clothes and jewellery to work hard for me!)
As always, when looking at the Boden sale, I head for the dresses and the shoes first. The items below caught my eye and are, at the time of writing, available in the vast majority of sizes and most are reduced by 40-60%. I’ve deliberately chosen things that can be worn from spring to early autumn because sadly, but realistically, our day to day British weather doesn’t support a wardrobe full of strappy sundresses and sandals.
