It’s been a very emotional week and my grandma’s funeral on Thursday, quite understandably took its toll and I was quite tearful for much of Friday. I had a long-standing arrangement to meet girlfriends for drinks in town on Friday night and I debated whether or not I should go, particularly because I didn’t sleep too well on Thursday night. However, the company of fabulous friends and the promise the of a few cocktails and a lot of laughter proved to be irresistible and we did, as always have a brilliant night.
Unusually for me, I was undecided about what to wear until the last minute, although I was certain about the shoes, which arrived from Kaleidoscope in time the AW16 preview which I’ll be attending in London on Tuesday. You may recall that I have the same colourblock heels in red, white and blue and I love them that much that I ordered them in a more neutral nude and black combination.
The top is one which I have had for several years and always enjoy wearing. The cream and grey beading worked nicely with the tones in the shoes. I’ve always loved clothing inspired by the Great Gatsby and the 1920s and the scalloped edge and tassels give more than a nod to that most elegant of eras. The boyfriend jeans, (I hope), made it all look a little more relaxed, and, (I hope even more), cooler than if I’d teamed them with a smarter trouser or jean.
Since ordering this Danon freshwater pearl and heart bracelet from my website Lizzy O, I have worn it over and over and with so many different outfits. There is a matching necklace too and both are available with a silver heart.

Sometimes a catch up with friends is just the tonic when you're going through a tough time. I love the pretty beaded top, and the shoes are really nice! I think I saw the other pair on Instagram and they immediately caught my eye 🙂

Thank you Patti. I'll msg her but was lucky to have her into my 40s xxxx
How gorgeous is this top? I love dressy tops on jeans – it makes for a casually put together outfit 🙂

Thank you Abby. I like combining a sparkly top with dresseed-down jeans xxxx
I hope that your memories of your grandmother will continue to help in the weeks, months and years ahead. But I am sure going out with friends was the right thing to do. Your top looks so great with jeans, and, oh my, your shoes were perfect to complete the look! Kx
Thank you so much. Yes, lots of happy memories and reminiscing. A peaceful end to what was a lovely life.
And yes! The shoes are fabulous aren't they?! xxxxx
I'd steal that look from you, Liz! Absolutely fabulous, I love these dressy tops but this is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen… no wonder you enjoy wearing it.
I am sure your late grandmother would have loved to see you spending time with your friends as I know how much she meant to you. Big hug!

Steal away Annette! Yes, it's a very pretty top isn't it.
And yes, my grandma would want all of us to keep on smiling! xxxxxxx
I love this beaded top Lizzie. And how clever of you to play it down with boyfriend jeans. I would have surely fallen into the obvious trap of pairing them with smart trousers. These shoes are utterly fabulous!

Thank you Anna. I think teaming a smart top with casual jeans gives a few more options and because I like to wear things over and over, it means they sit in the wardrobe less! The shoes are great aren't they. Beautifully made and very comfortable xxxxx
Great outfit Lizzy. I am totally loving your top and those heels are gorgeous too!
Thank you very much. Yes, the heels are fab and sooo comfy too! xxx
I've been loving this top since I saw your photo on Instagram. It's simply perfect on you, and I love how you've teamed it with boyfit jeans – perfection!

Aw, thank you so much Michelle. I like the mix of quite formal with a tad distressed! xxx
Such a fab outfit! I'm a huge fan of the be Jean, and that top is beautiful. The tri-colour shoes really pull it all together, fab for a night out.

Thank you Heidi. I love boyfriend jeans too. Much more comfortable than skinnies and a bit easier to wear too xxx
I really love the combination here, and the top and shoes are both so gorgeous. Hope you had a fabulous night out. Jane X

Thank you Jane. I did. It was a much-needed fun night out! xxx
Sorry about your loss. Glad your girlfriends could cheer you up. I love the beading on the shirt.
Thank you very much. They really did cheer me up. The beading is very pretty isn't it. I love 1920s style clothing xxx
This is really one of my favourite looks of yours; the jeans are absolutely perfect… just the right amount of distressing, and the beaded top (swoon!) just sings in contrast with it. There is something about your face and your colouring that really suits this 20s style and era in clothing as well. Gorgeous, just stunningly GORGEOUS.
Ah, thank you so much Lisa. I know what you mean about the right amount of distressing. I don't like them toooo ripped or worn. I think the 1920s has always appealed to me because of my romantic nature and I love the glamour of it all xxx
Hehehe, those pretty shoes again … The top is top (my vocabulary is poor tonight )
Thank you. Yes, I love the shoes and have them in red, white and blue too xxx
