For many, today is the first working day proper after the Christmas holiday, myself included. I must admit though, it’s been difficult to refrain from actioning a few (Aspire) work emails that arrived last week. I did write a few blog posts and continued working on my jewellery businesses but to a much lesser extent and on the whole, it was a good break.
Which leads me to my New Year’s Resolutions.
My work, (writing for Aspire and Optometry Today and online businesses Lizzy O and What Lizzy Loves Botique) plus my blog and its associated social media are incredibly fulfilling and I love each one as much as the next. However, I’m self-employed and at times, in fact, most days, I find it hard to switch off and often work until late in the evening.
This year, I plan to finish work earlier to enable me to read more in the evenings before going to sleep.
Another hobby of mine is keeping fit and is one which fell by the wayside around two years ago. I used to do spinning classes, use the gym and swim several times per week and I’ve missed it. So I have rejoined and went to the gym and had an induction this morning. I aim to go three times per week to do a variety of exercise, which I think, will in turn, both energise me and enable me to relax more and sleep better. I have booked my very first yoga class for next Monday morning too which I’m really looking forward to. I’m fearful I won’t actually be able to walk in the morning, but gosh it felt good!
My final and most important resolution is to spend more quality time with my children. That old chestnut. We’re together during most of their spare time but we don’t always do very much, mainly because it is difficult pleasing a 14-year-old girly girl and a 12-year-old sports mad boy (suggestions very very welcome).
My daughter and I made a good start on this latter resolution yesterday. My son is away skiing with school, so we spent the day at the Trafford Centre, shopping and lunching. Although she failed to spend a single one of her Christmas vouchers and I bought little more than some “calming” tea from Marks and Spencer, we loved every moment and we spent the evening relaxing, chatting and eating tortilla chips. Must keep up the gym…
I have worn this dress on may occasions finding it very versatile and I wore it with nude tights and flat Mary Janes when in Lisbon and have also worn it with black opaque tights and heeled ankle boots. Yesterday, I went for tan brogues which are very comfortable enabling my feet to shop in complete comfort.
My bag is a sneaky sales purchase from Mint Velvet and it’s just what I’d been looking for. Black with some texture and an across the body style. Perfect!
Have you made any New Year’s resolutions? I’d love to hear from you in the comments.
Love Liz x

I'm back at the gym tomorrow after a rather long break! Hopefully I won't ache too much. I have the black and tan Clarks brogues and wear them so much. Just before Christmas I splashed out on a new pair which are navy snakeskin and are fabulous! Looking forward to seeing your new brogues in action.
Ooh, good luck! I went again this morning followed by a swim. I'm a little stiff but feel so much more energised already!
The snakeskin brogues sound fab! I can't wait to wear my new brogues. I think I'm only going to wear pale pink from now on so I can wear them with everything! xxx
Well done on making this years goals. I have made a few but until I get a new life planner I cant really put them into practice. hehe!!
Thank you!
Haha, yes, you can't start without a planner. Joking aside, I really do need to write lists to enable me to feel I'll achieve anything! Good luck and thank you for all of your lovely comments both here and on Instagram. I accidentally deleted all of the commnents from my blog last night and I'm so sad because I really do appreciate the fact that everyonetakes the time to do it when so busy. So thank you Sian xxx
