Gosh it’s been so so busy of late. I can hardly believe it’s the ninth of December already. Unusually for me I haven’t even put the Christmas decorations up but that’s something I’m hoping to do later this evening.
I’ve been busy working on the February issue of Aspire, which because of Christmas has a deadline one week earlier than usual, giving me just three weeks instead of four, so yesterday I went up into the Dales village of Hebden to visit a beautiful family home used as a wedding venue and spent an enjoyable hour chatting to the owners and planning their feature whilst eating a homemade mince pie.
My next appointment was almost an hour’s drive away in the market town of Settle where I met with the director of a hand-made kitchen company and spent quite some time chatting and looking round the workshop and the showroom. I’m constantly amazed by the number of wonderful local businesses in Skipton and the surrounding area and also, and the reason I love my job so much, just how many really nice people I meet.
This morning, the only appointment I had with a client was but a short walk to a lingerie shop in Skipton town centre. Another lovely lady and something completely different to yesterday.
The diversity of my working days serves only to add to my job satisfaction.
I also write a monthly column for another magazine, the deadline for February’s issue of which is also looming. This goes back to my professional roots as an optometrist (ophthalmic optician) and this column, though fashion-led, requires my clinical thinking cap to be donned and is something I’ll tell you more about soon.
My online accessories boutique that I run with my friend and business partner Sally is getting increasingly busy so my trips to the post office are almost daily now.
These lovely leaf pendants, pictured here with the snake wrap bracelet, (I’m wearing mine today with the dark grey wrap bracelet), have sold fast and there are only two left at the time of writing.
The floral scarves are also selling fast and we are down to single figures in every colour way.
This morning was finally dry and bright enough to be able to snatch a few blog photos before my daughter left for school. I’m hoping for at least one bright day over the weekend to get some more taken.
I’m going to my friend’s tomorrow evening (a different Sally), with the rest of my girlfriends for our annual Christmas night in, which always entails a lot of laughter until the early hours, not least because of Secret Santa with a twist that always causes much hilarity. For this I have a LBD and some rather fabulous stockings and I absolutely can’t wait.
Friday night is the Aspire Christmas night out and I have a very unusual and striking dress to wear so I’ll do my best to get some photographs from both nights to share on my blog over the weekend.
I have a Christmas gift guide in the pipeline and, fingers crossed, an exciting new business venture which if all goes well, I will share next week. (I might be able to give a few sneaky peeks on Instagram over the next few days, so keep a lookout).
Santa, I would really, really love an extra two hours in the day…
