As you know I went down to London last Tuesday for the Next Network Blogger Event at the Soho Hotel. I wrote about it at the end of last week but the photographs didn’t really show my outfit (and in particular my tights). It was dark when I left home at 5.30am and also when I returned around 10pm, so I recreated it in its entirety when the weather permitted and when my daughter was on hand to take the photographs.
I knew it would be a long day involving a certain amount of walking between Kings Cross, the underground and the venue. I also knew there would be some time standing, eating and chatting so I started with the footwear upwards.
I don’t feel dressed in flats so wore black suede ankle boots, worn so often over the past three winters. They are smart and comfortable and did the trick.
Working upwards… I wanted to wear some rather fabulous tights I had been sent from UK Tights. Black opaques, they look plain from the front, but they have crystals running up the centre of the back and I absolutely love them. They are as robust as ordinary opaques and are perfect for the party season.
When choosing my dress, I knew it needed to look pristine all day, not crease en-route and be comfortable. This dress from Kaliko last winter has been excellent and is simple enough to let the tights do the talking. I added a very sparkly pendant (yet another purchase when I was buying stock for my boutique) and earrings and a beautiful black freshwater pearl ring. The ring is utterly beautiful and has an almost iridescent appearance, reflecting the colours around it.
