I spent a lovely few hours with my friend Ruth today. We met in our first year at secondary school almost 30 years ago and have been friends ever since. She lives in Cheshire and I live in North Yorkshire so we met in the middle in our home town of Preston. We haven’t seen each other for 18 months and a lot has changed in that time, so we had a lot to catch up on.
My current obsession with accessorising my home means I find myself photographing lighting wherever I go. This is at Pizza Express where we had lunch.
Ruth is hard-working doctor and mum to two young boys. She was happy for me to publish her photograph but wanted me to let you know that had it not been for builders Gary, Our Stevo and Mark who were working on her extension this morning and who turned her electricity off, before she single-handedly moved a dresser, she would have straightened her hair.
I know you’ll agree that she’s naturally very pretty with or without straighteners!
Despite nattering non-stop for three hours, we still managed to consume a mahoosive pizza each…
…followed by honeycomb cheesecake and ice-cream.
And coffee.
I love the Piano series of postcards by Hammond and Gower and this one seemed most appropriate today. Despite not seeing each other anywhere near as much as we’d like, we’ll always be there for each other as we have since being 12 year old school girls.
Love Liz x
