Well, it started to feel a little like Spring or at least it did on Saturday when these photos were taken. Compared to Sunday when I stood and watched my son play football for over two hours in the driving hail and Arctic conditions, and yesterday when it snowed, it was relatively mild.
My children and I ambled into town to run a few errands, one of which was getting new passport photographs. We decided it would be better to go into a photo-processing shop and have them taken by a human rather than in a kiosk.
Of course, biometric passports mean measurements are taken between facial features and the eyebrows need to be seen clearly, so I had to sweep my fringe to one side to reveal the said eyebrows.
The reason I have a fringe is to hide the laughter lines on my forehead (they are not, absolutely not, scowl lines or wrinkles, honestly), and as someone who would not contemplate Botox, it does the job very well indeed.
So in the middle of the busy shop whilst sitting on a high stool in front of a white screen and with the children already guffawing with laughter at how old and ridiculous I looked sans fringe, the photographer, who had already demonstrated infinite patience, told me to “stop trying to look cute and just do a mugshot”. At this, they could barely contain themselves and I had to ask them to turn away from me. I could see them out of the corner of my eye rocking with laughter.
The upshot of the mugshot is that I look like my dad does first thing in the morning but with slightly more hair. It is not a photo I’ll be sharing.
But it does mean I can hop on a plane to The Maldives at the soonest invitation.
My outfit combined stripes with florals and navy with yellow. The jumper has a nod to the nautical and it’s one I wore a lot last spring.
I always think a pop of yellow adds a little sunshine whatever the weather. Such a happy and uplifting colour.
I love my new Trollbeads bracelet and feel a bit of an addiction coming on.
And my watch is by Olivia Burton, bought from Aspire Style with some vouchers I had. The face has engraved butterflies on- another of my favourite things.
