Hero Jeans And Zebra Print Heels:Beating the January Blues

I think most women have a favourite pair of jeans in their closet. A pair that can be thrown on without a second's thought. A pair of old faithfuls that work with numerous tops and with heels, boots, kicks, ballerinas, ghillies and flip-flops. A pair that can be dressed up with sequins or dressed down with sweats. For me, it was a pair of lightly-distressed boyfriends; comfy, versatile and in the most perfect faded shade.  I wore them as often with my glittery Jimmy Choos as I did with Chelsea boots. They got better and better with age until they reached a tipping point. A point of no return. A point where the distressing became born out of decrepitude rather than design. The largish hole on my upper thigh made me realise, (as the mother of two teenagers), that these time-served denims needed to be relegated to the "working at home and unlikely to be disturbed" league of clothing. I knew I needed something to replace them.

Introducing my new old faithfuls...

The patches and frayed edge have been popular for the last few seasons and are design details that still look fresh. They're jeans that don't take themselves too seriously yet they manage to fulfill a serious role.
I absolutely love them.

Fitted through the waist, bottom and thigh, they have the perfect kick-flare and fall optimally to show the slimmest part of the leg and ankle.

The pointelle star motif sweater is such a cute addition to my wardrobe. Here, I teamed it with a plain navy vest, but I think one in white, (or even lemon or lime), would look fresh for spring. I envisage it teamed with denim shorts worn over a bikini later in summer. Stars are among my favourite motifs and they never fail to please. This is the perfect top for banishing those January blues.

My heels are in the print of the season; zebra. I'm a huge fan of animal print and find it works with almost everything. The cobalt blue details add a brighter blue hue and I like the combination of stars and stripes.

And the whole outfit needed little more than my double stars ring to accessorise.

I know already that these are the perfect replacement for my faithful old boyfriends.

Sometimes a girl just has to find a new hero...

  7. I was wondering about your ankles too! They are lovely jeans and I have been reading that patchwork jeans are very fashionable at the moment. I have a pair from Next that I bought a couple of years ago and don't wear much, so I will have to dig them out from the bottom of the jeans pile! As always you are looking stunning in your photos!xx

  8. Just to say that I live in Arusha, Tanzania where your Poppy is going next year and I think she will have a great time. It is a very interesting place. I will have left by then but have enjoyed my two-year stay. Good luck with the fundraising, I have signed up. Don't know how much help I'll be as I rarely buy on those sites but you never know!
