The Most Perfect Red Long Winter Coat

I realised recently that there was a coat-shaped hole in my wardrobe. I have countless jackets- waxed, quilted, waxed AND quilted, parkas, cagoules, trenches, faux furs, blazers and boleros. But I didn't actually own a coat coat and the reason for this was twofold. Firstly, I mainly work from home so haven't needed a smart coat and my array of jackets has sufficed until now. Second, most winter coats have wool in their composition and as I have mentioned before, I can't wear wool because it makes me itch, so the presence of wool is the first thing I look for, meaning many fall at the first hurdle.
As my working life continues to evolve, I'm finding myself at more functions, press days, meetings and dinners and if I'm smartly dressed, a puffa doesn't really cut the mustard, so I'd been looking out for a smart, wool-free coat to slot into my wardrobe and work with jeans, casual day wear and glam evening wear.
My latest brief for the Kaleidoscope Style Blog is coats and jackets. I was led to their rather excellent selection and this one positively jumped out at me- the colour, shape and length each serving to catch my eye and managing to bring a touch of Little Red Riding Hood to mind. Imagine my delight when I saw there was not even a hint of sheep in the mix, (though imagine the wolf's disappointment).

The pinkish shade of red works beautifully with rose gold. This sparkly wrap bracelet doubles as a choker and is available in both silver-grey and black too. At just £12.50 from my own online boutique Lizzy O they are perfect for the festive season.
(I must point out too on the photograph below that the hint of black showing beneath my sleeve is my dress, not the lining of the coat).

The long line wrap front coat is double breasted and has a detachable self-coloured tie belt. It has a large collar, pockets and a back vent. I can't think of the correct name for this shade of red, but it has both pink and blue undertones, (rather than yellow or orange), and manages to be both eye-catching, yet almost neutral at the same time and I can't think of a colour that it wouldn't work with.
The cut is very flattering with curved seems and buttons which fasten across the narrowest part of the body. It feels luxurious and the quality belies its price tag of just £99. I would pay double. It looks elegant and sophisticated and is super soft and comfortable.
I think it's stunning and this coat is set to become an autumn winter staple of mine.

My daughter and I went to the Leeds Liverpool canal here in Skipton to take these photographs. It's incredibly difficult to arrange photoshoots at this time of year as it is already going dark by the time she gets home from school. On this particular evening, the lighting was beautiful and the most beautiful pink sunset descended as we finished.
