The Boden Mid-Season Sale, March 2016

It was the equinox earlier this week and last weekend I cut the lawn for the first time this season. My patio pots of daffodils add a pop of cheery colour and this weekend the clocks go forward.
It's only the start of spring and yet the mid-season sales are in full swing. But actually, they present an excellent opportunity to buy some key transitional pieces that can be worn now and styled differently as the season progresses and the temperatures rise.

Here in the Yorkshire Dales, we often see frost on the ground until May and even when the days are warm, the evenings can be cool so I believe wholeheartedly that the majority of my wardrobe should multi-task, be adaptable and transcend the seasons and the temperature.

A significant part of my wardrobe comes form Boden and with excellent reductions off a lot of stock, I have picked out my favourites, all of which can be worn right now as well as in months to come.

Tunic dresses are one of my style staples and this Azalea Tunic Dress is exactly the multi-tasker I like. Wear it  now with tights and ankle boots, dress it up with a pair of heels for a special occasion and wear with sandals in summer.

I have last year's version, the Eliza Dress and to show just how versatile it is, you can see it with opaque tights and ankle boots, with sheer tights and heels and with bare legs and sandals.
I love the colours in the Azalea dress above and given the return I got on last year's investment, I'm very tempted to get this while reduced.
And because we all multi-task as much as our clothes, it washes beautifully in the machine.

The Boden Eliza tunic dress

The yellow handbag I'm carrying in the photo above has been a great favourite of mine for two years (It's the Boden Bowling Bag in sulphur), and goes with a surprising number of colours and outfits. The Amanda bag below is such a beautiful shape and comes in a similar bright hue as well as indispensable navy and tan.

This denim dress is a little different for Boden and is somewhat of a hidden gem. Available in both dark denim and light, this too could be worn with tights and ankle boots or with brogues, flats or pumps. I think the model on the left looks effortlessly chic with a touch of Parisian nonchalance and I absolutely love this look.

The Bonnie Studded Flat as seen on the model above left is reduced by differing amounts depending on the colour, of which there is one to suit every taste and every outfit. Aren't they divine?

A third trans-seasonal dress that caught my eye is the Everyday Tunic which has gorgeous striped detail on the back. The model shots show how the changes can be rung with tights and with footwear. I love the boots that the model on the left is wearing and think they too would work all year round from cold winter days to cool summer festivals.

Breton tops are another staple in my wardrobe and Boden does them in an array of colours. These ones are reduced and are ideal with skinny jeans, boyfriend jeans, denim shorts, chino shorts and would look amazing tucked into a full midi shirt.

Long Sleeved Breton £18.85- £21.20

For off-duty style, nothing beats a sweatshirt and these are rather cute. I would team one with boyfriend jeans and statement heels for something a little unexpected, but again, they are ideal with jeans and shorts of all styles.

I hope this has given you some inspiration. There are so many more things reduced by 50% so head over to the Boden website. Enjoy and use code 5H3A for the discounts to apply.

  2. I've been eyeing the Amanda bag in saffron since it came out. I keep telling myself I won't use a yellow handbag that much.....but I wear so much navy.....oh the temptation! You buy it Liz and I shall live vicariously through you. :)

    1. If I didn't already have the yellow Bowling bag,I wouldn't hesitate. I have used mine with so many outfits (lots of outfit posts feature it) and it really does go with so many things. But yes, navy is a classic option xxx

  3. I'm totally drooling over that denim dress. It's gorgeous! I'm a real jeans kinda gal so I do love a denim dress (not that I own one). Maybe this could be the one? I like that it has a bit of shape to it. A lot of the ones I've seen are often a bit boxy. Are the sizes a good fit? I ask because, living in Portugal, I'd hate to buy something in a size 10 and then find I should've gone for a 12! I am a pretty standard 10 though. Would love your opinion. Thanks Lizzy!

    1. Suzy, I've just ordered it because fell in love too!
The sizes are a good yes. I'm a 10-12 depending on the brand and the 10 (long) is perfect almost every time in Boden. Having read the reviews on the denim dress on the Boden though, it suggests it runs a little bit on the small side, so I ordered the 10 and the 12 I don't know what the returns policy is for Portugal, but you may be able to get free returns and order both sizes perhaps. Let me know if you get it! xxx

  4. Boden is dangerous, because I can always find at least 10 things I want, half of which are usually shoes! They really seem to get it right. I can't wait to see what you get and how you wear it! Your previous purchases are all winners. xx

  5. Liz I think Boden's style suits you beautifully... YOU should be modelling for them!! The floral dress you styled three ways is a knockout, and as you know I'm so envious of those legs - I'd never put them away if I had them!! ;) I do love Boden's prints and their shoes are pretty amazing too, what great colours they use.

Happy Easter my darrrrling Liz, much love
