Outfit: Accessorisising Jeans and a White Tee

Most of my outfits, especially those "every day" ones are very simple and today was quite typical.  I started off with a white tee and jeans and I added colour with my yellow cardigan and pattern, (and a much needed extra layer), with the floral daisy scarf in this beautiful shade of mint green.

I find it hard to resist broderie anglaise and such detail elevates a simple tee.

And even though it was quite chilly, the ice-cream shades made me feel a little more summery.

Perfect for a stroll into town to meet my friend Annemarie for breakfast and coffee. My cinammon bagel with honey and jam was perfect.

Outfit: Pussy Bow Blouse, Skinny Jeans, Yellow Heels

These photographs were taken between sleet showers yesterday morning. I can't believe how cold it was. It was a day spent indoors thankfully, working from home, but one rather nicely punctuated by lunch with my friend, and business partner, Sally. We hadn't seen each other for a while so I invited her for lunch and gossip.

I did feel quite businesslike in this pussy bow shirt though and I think it has a touch of the Miss Moneypenny about it. We've arranged a trip to buy new scarves and accessories for our boutique's summer collection, so it can, I believe, be legitimately classed as a working lunch.

My (almost ubiquitous) pop of yellow came courtesy of my fabulous British made Yull Chartwell shoes.

And I showed Sally my new storage system for my scarves...

Yes, it's a wine rack that I no longer need in the kitchen. This is all part of my ongoing dressing room makeover.

Outfit: Sixties Style Striped Shift with Leopard Shoes

Today was my son's family birthday celebration and the weather was once again beautiful. This sixties style dress is one of my favourites from last year, so much so that I also bought it in a vibrant orangey red too.

I do love combining stripes with leopard print.

And as always, I treasure cuddles with the youngest member of our family, my niece Kitty.

Outfit: Grey Roses Top, Coated Jeans and Glitter Shoes

Yesterday was another busy productive day, with more editing and writing for Aspire plus more shelf putting-up. I fear it's becoming an addiction and I'm running out of walls.

I spent a fabulous few hours last night with the "soccer moms". We went to a bar in Skipton, where we found a corner and stayed for the duration. It's always nice to catch up with them because more often than not it's the "soccer dads" who attend the matches.

I've had this top for several years and haven't worn it in a long while but I love it's delicate prettiness.

A lovely reader asked me recently if I wear earrings. I do! Every day I wear little silver studs set with a pink opal- my birthstone. They were a gift for my 40th birthday from one of my university friends. On occasions though, I do wear something different. These beautiful daisy drop earrings were sent to me by Italian jewellery brand, Luca Barra last year.

I wore three Bella Jane bracelets along with a charm bracelet by Lovelinks. The little scallop shell on it is by Redbalifrog and the other side of it houses a little pearl.

Outfit: Breton Stripes, Yellow Brogues and Gold Jewellery

It's been a busy but thoroughly enjoyable two days. Yesterday was my son's 12th birthday, which of course meant an earlier than usual start to the day. My daughter was off school because of a teacher training day, so we went to Ikea to get more home accessories and something in which to house my shoes. I did have a purpose built cupboard at my former home, but space is more of a premium in the new house, so needed something more slimline.

My son had an away football match in the evening so it was almost 9pm when we got home to eat the birthday supper of his choice- takeaway pizza.

The weather was once again beautiful and I was feeling very nautical. I do think gold jewellery works better than silver with this particular look.

I love mixing patterns, especially stripes with spots, leopard or florals.

The fact that my outfit (and, it would appear, my car), matches Ikea was unintentional.

The bookcase-come-shoe shelf is over two metres long and even flat-packed presented a challenge, but we managed, just, to fit everything into my car boot, although changing gear was a little difficult on the drive back home. I got exactly what I wanted but my dressing area is a work in progress so will share it in due course.

Today, I got my hair cut first thing and then had the absolute pleasure of meeting Hannah Younger, award winning Yorkshire photographer of Dreams and Lens. We did a photoshoot in her home studio and I ended up staying for several hours chatting. In Hannah, I made a new friend and met a very talented, funny, warm woman. I loved every moment of being her model and I can't wait to see and share the photographs.

The copy deadline for the June issue of Aspire is tomorrow so I have editorial coming in thick and fast, plus features of my own to finish writing and putting together, so this afternoon and early part of the evening was taken up with that.

But not so much that I couldn't get my drill out...don't you just love a level bubble?

The picture ledges are on a narrow wall in the hallway.

I've mentioned the Piano Series of postcards by Hammond and Gower previously on my blog. This one was from my friend Annemarie when we moved in.

I love it and feel that our home has been blessed as such.

A Review of Hetties Cafe Bistro, Skipton, North Yorkshire

Hetties Café-Bistro opened in April 2014 continuing a 140 year old legacy of the property being continually run as a café. Reputed to be one of the oldest cafes in Skipton, the ground floor originally traded as a confectioners shop and the first floor housed the café. It is located at the top of Skipton High Street close to the castle and owners David and Brettle Roberts offer a warm and genuine welcome to everyone.

The main menu is extensive and has a wide selection of hot meals including gammon steak and homemade steak burger as well as lighter bites, salads, toasties and sandwiches. There is a specials board which alters daily and reflects seasonal produce. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Hetties offers a Piano Supper featuring a special menu and live music and takes orders until 8pm.
The premises is licensed and there is a good selection of beers, lagers and wines as well as soft drinks, teas and speciality coffees.
The food, where possible, is sourced locally and is freshly prepared by chefs Jemma (who multi tasks as barista and assistant manager), and Matt.

David and his charming staff made my friend Annemarie and me feel most welcome from the moment we entered. We were shown to a reserved table by the window on the first floor, overlooking The High Street and Skipton Castle.  There were fresh flowers on every table and a log burning stove was lit on both floors.

We went on a busy Wednesday lunchtime. David was attentive and friendly and despite the café being full, he afforded every table the same courtesy.
We ordered from the main menu. Annemarie had a chicken Caesar salad and I had roast ham sandwiches served with hand cut chips and a beautifully dressed side salad. We both commented on the generous portion size and the freshness of the ingredients.

We ordered Prosecco which came in individual 20cl bottles and tap water which was served in an aesthetically pleasing pink glass bottle.

As well as a dessert menu, Hetties offers a mouth-watering selection of cakes, brownies, biscuits and scones, imaginatively displayed on top of the piano.

We both chose warm lemon sponge and custard. It was feather light and zesty and the custard was beautifully fresh. A feast for the senses.

We finished our lunch with coffee served to our rather exacting requirements.

Hetties is a lively yet relaxed café with a warm welcoming atmosphere. David and his staff are friendly and attentive and clearly take great pride in their work and the service they offer. This is café food at its very finest and I cannot recommend it enough.

Annemarie and I were hosted by Hetties as part of my role for Aspire Magazine. All opinions and content are my own. Thank you to David Roberts and his team for the superb service and divine food.
