Mother's Day Gift Inspiration: Good to Be Home

My obsession with fashion accessories has probably not gone unnoticed but I'm equally excitable about home accessories too.

I spent a lovely morning with Suzannah Jeanes of Good to Be Home earlier in the week. We became acquainted last year standing pitch side (often freezing and shivering in Yorkshire's finest weather), watching our respective sons play for the same football team. Her husband is one of the coaching team and our boys also attend the same secondary school.
As is the way, the more we chatted, the friendlier we became and we decided it would be brilliant to work together. So she brought an array of gorgeous things to my home, (all of which were just to my taste), and we spent a very happy few hours photographing them whilst managing to have a good old gossip at the same time.

Suzannah has a wide selection of cushions and mercury glass candle holders.
I love the soft pastel shades in this selection.

And these stronger shades look brilliant together. The decorative toille boxes are ideal for storage but also for putting gifts in.

The botanical tea set is available in pink as well as in this divine shade of blue.

Suzannah's garden accessories are equally desirable. This painted birdhouse is so unusual and pretty

And the butterfly tealight holder is gorgeous. As a lover of  anything with butterflies, dragonflies or bees on, this holds huge appeal to me.

As well as being able to buy from her brand new online shop, Suzannah can deliver within the Skipton area. If there is anything here which doesn't yet appear in her store, do email her because everything you see here is available. She will be able to dispatch things in plenty of time for Mother's Day,

Outfit: Trollbeads Bracelet with Shades of Blue.

It's probably obvious to all that that know me and to those that read my blog that I love jewellery as much as I love clothes. I'm particularly fond of pieces that have sentiment or meaning behind them which is why I've always adored charm bracelets.

This love affair started more than 30 years ago when I used to sit on my paternal grandmother's knee and admire the traditional heavy gold charm bracelet that adorned her wrist. As promised, she gave it to me on my 25th birthday and I treasure it. My grandfather has always been incredibly romantic. They were quite well travelled in their day so Grandad would buy her a new charm from every country or city they visited together as well one on her birthday and one on their wedding anniversary.
Despite their advancing years and fading memories, between them they can still recall where every single charm came from. It's almost like a journal in jewellery form.

So I was delighted when Rachel Parkin invited me to take a look at Trollbeads, a thoroughly modern version of the charm bracelet
Rachel is the proud owner of the the first Trollbeads store in the universe! It's a beautiful listed fronted building in the centre of Cambridge and is the first concept store in the UK meaning it carries the entire range of Trollbeads and X by Trollbeads.

Trollbeads were created in 1976 in Denmark by Lise Aagaard. The bracelets are fully composable- the lock, the bracelet and the beads are bought separately to create something completely unique. They are renowned for their beautiful glass beads which come in a seemingly infinite array of colours and designs.

This stunningly beautiful Mother's Rose bead is part of this year's Mother's Day collection. The detail within the glass is exquisite.

Rachel selected a bracelet and bead for me and this is how it arrived.
Is this not the sexiest padded envelope ever?

She selected the Flower lock and this gorgeous Blue Diamond bead which is embedded with 13 cubic zirconias. The bead was inspired by the song "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend" from the Marilyn Monroe movie "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes". Wow!

Designer Lise Aagaard decided on a dark finish for her sterling silver which is a little different to the shiny silver we are perhaps more used to here in the UK. This negates the need for polishing it- a perfectly practical reason- but I think it gives the bracelet an edge too.

Two four-leaf hydrangeas embrace the sterling silver lock. I love flowers and think Rachel chose perfectly for me.
It is an incredibly secure, clever design and there are lots of different styles available, (as well as different bracelet styles from silver to leather), and everything is interchangeable.

I absolutely love this bracelet so I based my outfit around it and opted for shades of blue.
Such a beautiful sunny morning.

The bead catches the light so beautifully...

...and the shadows match my stripes.

Outfit: LBD with Large Heart Pendant

I wore this outfit a few weeks ago with the beautiful heart pendant that Sally and I had in our accessories boutique. It proved incredibly popular and sold out within a week, so these were put on the back burner.  We met this morning for tea and gossip, (a regular occurrence that we we try to dress up as a business meeting but there's way too much hilarity for that and we fool nobody), but we did actually place an order for more of these and they'll be here by the end of the week.

It is such a versatile piece of jewellery. The soft grey of the leather look chain means it will match anything and the detail on the metal hearts just adds to the overall effect. It looks striking against the plain background of my dress but looks equally at home with a much more casual outfit of white tee and jeans which is what I wore it with a week or so ago (from which the close up photograph below is taken)

This necklace whispers a statement rather than shouts it and I absolutely love it.

This LBD has been a great addition to my wardrobe too. It's easy to wear and can be accessorized in several different ways. I wore it with leopard print shoes and accessories just before Christmas and have also worn it with black ballerina flats.

Added 16.03.16- This particular pendant has sold out, but a very similar one is available at Lizzy O! Thank you, Liz x

Outfit: Wearing Stripes with Florals (and lots of roses)

I love combining different prints and patterns. I find that stripes work particularly well with polka dots, florals and with animal print, especially leopard.

Today, a casual Sunday outfit, I'm wearing a Breton style top from several summers ago- I love the shade of green- with another roses scarf. The shades of pink and green are so pretty and the scarf has an almost vintage feel to it.

And flowers are very much on my mind after this stunningly beautiful bouquet arrived yesterday.

Outfit: Casual Jeans with Roses Scarf and Dragonfly Bracelet

Yesterday was a day of catching up on errands after having a leisurely few days, it being half term. I went to the supermarket, posted some scarves, answered emails, blogged, washed, ironed and did some writing and editing (my day job) for Aspire Magazine.

I also had an interview to conduct for the upcoming April issue of Aspire. When I say interview, what I actually mean is a pleasant hour spent chatting in the office of a lovely married couple who run Manor Barn, a local furniture business and whose editorial I'll be writing.

I'm still in love with my dragonfly wrap bracelet.

And I've fallen in love with this beautiful roses scarf. It's from the newest range, available online in our boutique from 1st March.
