It is quite rare these days for a retailer to wait until after Christmas before starting their winter sale. We tend to be offered discounts of varying degrees throughout he season which with the relatively recent adoption of Black Friday, means one rarely needs to pay the full retail price on anything.
Next however, has always offered excellent reductions in their twice-yearly sales (although even they have mid-season sales now), and with the exception of Harrods and London's fellow department stores, it is one of the few retailers to see queues of people way before opening time.
I didn't look online but visited a large Next store in Aintree, Liverpool on 27th December not wanting anything in particular. As with most sales, the middle or averages sizes were quite far and few between, and because the sale had commenced on Boxing Day, I knew the choice of clothing in my size would be limited. However, I did get two nighties and three pairs of shoes.
The first, a pair of black sparkly shoes, is something I feel has been missing from my shoe collection for some time. Among all my shoes, I didn't have a simple pair of black court shoes. Reduced from £23 to £10, they were an excellent purchase and I know I will get a lot of wear out of them.
My absolute favourite shoes in the world are, perhaps unsurprisingly, my Jimmy Choo Tahitis, below, that I wore most recently on Christmas Eve. They have an open toe and I have often wished for a similar pair in a closed toe style, so versatile are they.
These ones, reduced from £36 to £18 are along the same lines colour and texture wise. A champagne colour with sparkle, they will work with a lot of my dresses as well as with skinny jeans.
The third pair are more than a little reminiscent of Valentino Rockstuds, a design I have coveted for some time. These were a complete impulse purchase though and it was the colour combination that caught my eye. I am envisaging them with boyfriend jeans and a pretty top I have which is soft pink with a beaded collar. At £16 they were less than half price and I love them.
My final item is a grey fur cushion. At £6, reduced from £14, it is perfect for adding a little cosy texture.
Here it is along with one of the nightdresses (and the cute candle that is my Christmas present from my son).
