New Home...New Scarves...

Thank you so much for the well wishes and messages regarding my house move over the weekend. It went smoothly but we are still in a state of total upheaval. There is flooring in fewer than half the rooms, boxes and boxes of homeless things and as yet, no wifi. The rest of the flooring will be installed today and tomorrow which means I can put everything away properly.
All to be expected.

But, as chaotic as it has been, I have had friends and new neighbours drop by with champagne, cakes, flowers and other beautiful gifts and it has, once again, made me realise just how lucky I am. And my parents worked tirelessly yesterday building wardrobes, making beds, making tea. My mum brought lunch for all of us including my brother and sister in law. And, I don't know how, but my brother and I ended up trapped between a double mattress and a dining table in the back of  a van hired by our dad to do an inter-sibling furniture swap. It was one of those times when I truly ached with laughter.

Speaking of friends, I *may* have mentioned that my business partner, (read very special friend Sally) and I have been to quite a few Christmas events selling our scarves these last few weeks.

They've been well received so we're thrilled because it meant we could order more.
We've restocked the best sellers and have also chosen some new designs too. We use one of each design for display purposes on the stand which means we are able wear them the rest of the time.

This beautiful bird and branch design is Sally's favourite. She's wearing it in the cream and blue version below. The blue and grey are new this time and are beautiful- very Cath Kidston.

I love the quirky toadstools. There is only one green one left.

These festive stars are all new and are different in design from each other as well as colour.

Hearts and polka dots are always popular. We have restocked the grey hearts and both the navy and pink polka dots.
I'm dotty about the petrol blue spots.

Now, I'll be honest and say that I had reservations about the penguin design, but they are absolutely gorgeous. They sold out in the greyish green colourway very quickly but we've got more now and we also have it in this stunning dark teal as well as beige.
I suspect the John Lewis Christmas ad will serve to make these even more popular and the three daughters that Sally and I have between us are already fighting over the display scarf.

Continuing with animals... cute squirrels.

And finally, these beautiful lotus flower designs. The charcoal colourway is very striking and we only have two of those left.

These are all now available to order from the online boutique. They are £12.50 each with free UK delivery (worldwide delivery £3.95).

Outfit Post: Plaid Dress and Navy Boots

Today has been spent packing everything from our temporary home in readiness for the permanent move this weekend. But, I  met my friend Annemarie for coffee and a mooch around the shops first thing which is always a treat.

My thirteen year old daughter absolutely refused to take photographs in the street this morning. I take her point. Photographing one's mother in public is, I concede, a little embarrassing, particularly when a rather large pack of school boyz is in close proximity.

The shed door here at our rental property is quite nice colour though and actually,  I much prefer these photographs to yesterday's.

I wore my new navy boots again, this time with a plaid tunic dress, cord jacket and my bicycle scarf which is one of my favourites from summer.

I'm crossing my fingers for a smooth legal completion tomorrow. As soon as I get the keys I can let the carpet fitters in and can finally begin turning my new house into a home.

Outfit Post: New Navy Ankle Boots

I really am in the final throes of moving now, with everything set to go ahead this weekend. I actually went into my new house for the first time ever on Tuesday. It's crazy. I've spent more time choosing a pair of tights than I did that house. I bought off plan having decided that the location was perfect and having liked the show house. I'm pleased, (and somewhat relieved), to say that I love it and can't wait to make it into a home.
I've yet to find a suitable wall for my photographs though...

My blog will probably take it easy over next week or so, particularly because the broadband won't be installed until the beginning of December, (a fact I have yet to share with my children in case they leave home). But, I've got a few days and nights out in the diary with some new outfits planned and Sally and I will be at several more Christmas events with our scarves so I'll have lots to share in the lead up to Christmas.

Today's outfit (practical- for walking into town and running errands on what is a dull grey day) is one of my favourites from Spring but with the addition of new boots.  I had vouchers and opted for these navy leather ankle boots. I like the grainy leather and the chunky sole and heel. The tan strap adds a little detail and of course, navy and tan is one of my favourite autumn combinations.

We didn't take many photos this morning because our temporary home is in the middle of a residential area and the dustbins were being collected. There is only so much cool I can muster and only so much embarrassment my 13 year old photographer can take, so she scarpered off to school, at a speed never before witnessed, muttering something about exploitation, after taking about five compared to the more usual twenty or so.

The top is the same style as the bright blue penguin print one earlier this month. I love the ties on the sleeves and the detail on the neckline.

Five Happy Things...#7

It's been a few weeks since I did one of these posts. Not because there haven't been enough happy things- on the contrary- there have been a lot. More because there have been so many other things- big things to write about.

1. I moved out of my home on Monday (into temporary accommodation until our new home is ready). Without doubt, it was an emotional day. But, overwhelmingly, I felt happy. Happy because I did it. And even more happy because it marks the start of what I'm sure will be an exciting new phase of my life. Our temporary home is very close to the town centre as is our new house. Already, we're seeing the advantages of being so close to everything.

2. I got a huge compliment from my fellow blogger and friend, Catherine Summers. Author of the hugely successful and well respected blog Not dressed as Lamb. She included me in her post "8 Over 40 Bloggers You Should Know". I'm very humbled and very grateful. We first met when we worked together in the Fever campaign in March and have stayed in touch ever since.

3. My friend (and scarf business partner) Sally and I have been to three different venues this week with our scarves. We have sold out of several designs. We laughed, people-watched and laughed more. In fact I laughed so much at one point that the resulting tears meant a full re-application of mascara was required.

4. You know by now that I have brilliant friends, well it turns out they have equally brilliant husbands. We were unable to turn the hot bathroom tap off the other evening- it just span round and the bathroom became increasingly like a steam room. My arsenal of tools consists only of an electric screwdriver which even I realised would be zero use. So I called another Sally, knowing her husband would come to my rescue with a wrench despite the late hour. Which he did and fixed it within minutes.
How lucky I am to know I can call on them at any time.

5. I spent a few precious hours yesterday with my 13 year old daughter while my son was at the park with his friends. I spend a lot of time driving him to and from sports fixtures so we spend a lot of time chatting en-route. I rarely get this opportunity with my daughter. We walked into town, perused the make-up counters and went for the inevitable hot chocolate. I loved every minute.

And this week I blogged about...

My Emotional Moving Day
My Sparkly Boden Clothes
My Fairisle Dress and A Day at Hindelinis
A New Bracelet and Time With my Daughter.

Outfit Post: Dragonflies and Shades of Blue

I've had a lovely afternoon with my daughter.
I spend a significant amount of time taking my sport mad boy to and from fixtures and training for both rugby and football so we spend a lot of time chatting en-route. I rarely get this opportunity with my (young teenage) daughter. So we walked into town and spent a few very happy hours perusing the make-up counters, looking at hair products and, of course, going for the inevitable hot chocolate. I look at her and wonder when she changed from a cute pig-tailed little girl into a beautiful, intelligent, thoughtful, kind young woman.

I wear each of these pieces often but this is the first time I've worn the Chelsea boots with the skinny jeans. I have a beautiful new bracelet too. It's by Danon and matches the dragonfly pendant that I wrote about last month (love dragonflies).

It's a gorgeous bracelet in brown leather with dragonfly and heart detail. It's described as double wrap but it actually wraps around my wrist three times. The leather is beautifully soft and the bracelet is very comfortable.
I love it.

Outfit Post: Fairisle Dress- Snowflakes and Spots

My dear friend and business partner Sally and I were at Hindelinis yesterday, a lovely cafe in my home county of Lancashire. We were there with our scarves and spent several happy hours there both morning and evening.
As "work" goes, it doesn't get much more pleasurable. A beautiful location with log burning fire, home-made organic cakes., my dear friend and... the first Christmas songs of the year. perfect.

And look. I managed to find a wall for my photos.

Where there's a wall there's a way...

Floral Scarves...

This is the last set of photographs taken last week in the stunning grounds of Bolton Abbey. It was a perfect Autumn day. I think a carpet of fallen leaves like this is one of nature's finest gifts.

This scarf is in one of my favourite Autumn colour combinations- navy and orange. It's a pretty floral, with a scattering of stars in shades of blue with orange highlights and a geometrical border.

And, the other colourway of grey with yellow holds equal appeal to me.

Sally is wearing the lotus design. This is more of a stylised floral in maroon, charcoal or navy. The pinkish maroon is lovely, quite muted and I think it works beautifully with Sally's (not 50) shades of grey and her hat (which she crocheted herself)

We're attending three Christmas events this week with our scarves. Tomorrow, we'll be crossing the border to my home county of Lancashire to Hindelinis in Gisburn. I went last year as a customer and it was brilliant. An open fire, home made cake, coffee and lots of beautiful stalls. We'd love to come and say hello if you're in the area.

The scarves are available here online from my boutique, costing £10 with free UK shipping. Postage to the rest of the world is £395. So far I have sent scarves to Australia, USA, Hungary and Germany.
