Outfit Post: Cream Lace Tunic Dress

The children and I went to a birthday party last night. It was for one of my son's classmates and the whole class was invited. It was rather poignant, as next week they start secondary school. Here in Skipton, we have selective single-sex grammar schools as well as an array of secondary schools which results in a primary school class of 30 moving to up to seven different schools.
They have been a tight knit class from the start and because the same can be said of the parents, we had a separate function in order to celebrate the start of this new chapter and to catch up having missed each other at the school gate during the holiday.

This dress was a sale purchase from Jack Wills at the start of the year. I love the nod to the 1960s with the a-line tunic shape and anything with lace always appeals.

I've always loved rose gold and the last few seasons have seen it become more prevalent. The flip flop was a birthday gift from my friend Annemarie and the crown was from John Greed last year. I put it on a long silver chain and I like how the two metals look together.
My rose gold Boden sandals have earned their keep this summer.

Outfit Post: Barbour Quilted Chelsea boots

Despite it being bright and sunny today, there was a definite nip in the air. The past few evenings have been noticeably both cooler and darker.
It was football training for my son this evening. The past two weeks have seen me shivering somewhat by the end of the session so I wrapped up a little more today.

My natural optimism finds a silver lining in the the form of new boots. They're by Barbour at Cloggs stocks a an excellent range including wellingtons and bags, as well as numerous other footwear brands.

*Barbour Brent in Sand, Cloggs £128.99 £65

The sand coloured canvas and leather quilted design is perfect for the transition from Summer to Autumn and beyond. They're incredibly comfortable, very sturdy and I absolutely love them.

Outfit Post: Tweed for the Malham Country Show

Yesterday, the children and I went to the Malham Show. It take place annually in Malhamhide and is a traditional agricultural and family country show.

So, wellies and tweed were the order of the day.
My jacket is actually jersey, perfect for me because I find wool to be too itchy. It was from Joules last year and is available again this season in both brown and blue.

And here is my lovely new friend Leigh (whose outfit caught my eye at Sally's wedding) with her trophy. She won first prize in the "Working in the Dales" category as well as most outstanding adult class photograph. Below is her partner Neil with their prize-winning sheep too. Thanks to Leigh for letting me use these two photographs.

Outfit Post: White Dress with Tan Accessories

We went for lunch to my lovely friend Sandra's yesterday. Compared to the previous few days, it was quite warm and sunny. I fear it may be the last time I wear this most summery of dresses this year.
I wore it on holiday with rose gold sandals. This time I opted for tan accessories.

And how gorgeous is Finley, Sandra's cockapoo?

The Beauty of Porto Santo

I saw so many things of beauty in Porto Santo when we were there at the start of the month but one of my favourites was seeing the little lizards scuttling about. They busied themselves amongst the succulent plants and seemed to be drinking from the flowers.
One climbed up the parasol under which we were sitting and my daughter got rather a surprise when she tried to stroke it and it took a leap of faith and landed in her hand.

The hibiscus bushes stopped me in my tracks each time I walked past.

And because I love a scalloped edge...

Catwalk inspired Designs from the Clarks Autumn Collection

I know, I know. It's still the summer holidays but it's wet and windy outside. And I love Autumn. And shoes.

The Autumn Winter 2014 catwalks showcased a lot of rather masculine designs. A trend that shows no sign of waning.
I love these investment buys.

Bay, Jimmy Choo £525

Memo, Jimmy Choo £495

Suede Chelsea Boots, Tods at My Theresa £377

Dondo, Jimny Choo £625

But these styles, from the newest collection at Clarks have also caught my eye. They have taken inspiration from the catwalk and translated them into attainable designs.
Over the past few years I've built up rather a nice collection of boots and shoes from Clarks. I find them to be excellent quality and value.
I think these are fabulous.
