Sunflowers, Dancing and Afternoon Tea

This weekend has been one of celebrating the 50th birthday of Jane, one of  my dear friends.
The festivities started last night with a ceilidh at a beautiful village hall high up in the Yorkshire Dales. The food was divine and the band was amazing.
And I just love being flung around the dance floor. It was the most fun I've had in a long long time.

I wore my Fever Provence dress (from Aspire Style). I found it to be perfectly swishy. And my Boden yellow sandals permitted hours of comfortable dosy doh-ing.

My parents brought these beautiful sunflowers when they came to babysit last night. I've always loved yellow.

The celebrations continued today with afternoon tea at Jane's home.
Here's my contribution, lemon daisy cupcakes and Wimbledon cupcakes (strawberries and cream).

My dress is from Joules three or four years ago and the cardigan is a similar age from Boden.
My yellow accessories are all from Boden's current collection.

Outfit Post: Broderie Dress

I love broderie and scalloping so this Boden dress, (from 2012 I think), is a great favourite. It's versatile and I wear it dressed down with flip flops and dressed up with strappy sandals and jewellery. It's one of my "go-to" dresses and I always feel good in it.
The detail is just beautiful.

Aspire Style:The Perfect Summer Vintage Look

I've always loved vintage style dresses, especially from the 40s and 50s so I was thrilled to be invited to take part in a style challenge hosted by retro-inspired brand Aspire Style.
The brief is to take a dress from their collection and style it for the " The Perfect Summer Look".

I chose the Provence Dress by Fever because what could be more perfect for summer than the combination of sunny yellow and marine blue?
The shape is so feminine and the print so vibrant.

It's such a happy dress.

This outfit is featured on the Aspire Style Facebook Page as part of a blogger "Style Off" competition.

I would be hugely grateful if you would follow the link and go and "Like" my photograph. The winner will be the outfit with the most likes.

Thank you!

Outfit Post: Sixties Dress and Glitter Jimmy Choos.

Last night I went to a brilliant party to celebrate my friends' 15th wedding anniversary.
There was a hog roast and an amazing young guitarist/singer. A night of laughter and dancing with friends and I enjoyed every moment. A perfect midsummers evening.

My ruby red murano bracelet from Adorn is redder than the dress but the orange within the glass shines through when next to it.
Joanne's designs are beautiful so do take a look.

These beautiful crystal earring are from Italian jewellery brand Luca Barra.

My Jimmy Choos are more than five years old. I still have a Cinderella moment when I put them on. The champagne glitter works with so many colours and they sparkle beautifully.

I have this sixties style dress in a navy and white stripe too. I wore it last month for my sister-in-law's 40th birthday. I love the neckline and the ponte jersey means it's incredibly comfortable and perfect for dancing.

Planning a Holiday Wardrobe

It's been several years since I've been abroad, having holidayed in Devon or Cornwall the past few summers.

But this year, we're going on a beach holiday for some much needed sunshine and relaxation. I'm counting the days so it's time to do some planning with a list of essentials.

Top of the list is a bikini.
Or two.

Kaleidoscope has a wide selection starting at £29

A straw beach bag- useful for carrying the essentials whilst being both stylish and lightweight. Both of these styles can be carried as a tote or worn on the shoulder.

Metallic Woven Bag, Kaleidoscope, £32
Heine Red Straw Bag, Kaleidoscope, £42

A tunic which can be used as a beach cover-up or worn as top with a vest underneath. Perfect with shorts.

A lightweight straw hat and sunglasses.

Large Straw Hat, Kaleidoscope £35
Suuna Daisy Sunglasses £36
Heine Plastic Sunglasses £15

And for the evening, a gorgeously feminine white lace dress.

Heine Embroidered Detail Dress in White, Kaleidoscope £89
Heine Embroidered Detail Dress, Kaleidoscope £59
Pure Linen Dress (Also Available in Black), Kaleidoscope £49

Kaleidoscope have a fabulous selection of clothes, shoes and accessories in their holiday shop which is well worth a visit and has choices to suit all types of holidays both home and abroad.

For My Daddy

For my dad who has been a constant source of love and support all of my life and is the best grandfather to walk this earth.

I'm grateful that I inherited your long eyelashes but slightly less thrilled with the inherited love of Status Quo.

I love you Dad. Thank you.

Happy Father's Day,

Love Liz x
